- A Filipino Catholic playing the role of Jesus Christ during Holy Week rites in the Philippines reenacted the crucifixion for the 33rd and the penultimate time this week on Good Friday, April 19.
Ruben Enaje, 58, is known for annually portraying Jesus Christ's crucifixion and death on Good Friday in front of crowds of foreign and local tourists in San Pedro Cutud village in Pampanga province, north of Manila, since the 1980s.
Actors pretended to drive four-inch nails into both his hands and feet and lifted him on a wooden cross for about five minutes. (Reuters)

I used to do reenactments of the crucifixion of Jesus at various churches in my hometown from when I was a kid up until I was a young adult so I think he passed me. I didn't do it for real though.

Guys it’s a traditions. People there are very religious. It’s not mockery or stupidity. They want to feel how Jesus was nailed at the cross. After this event everyone goes to church.
They couldn’t possibly know how it felt no matter how hard they tried. Jesus bore the wrath of God for us on that cross, a weight they couldn’t possibly even imagine the pain of. And if they want to remember/honor what he did then they can do it how He said to at the last supper.
