I was analyzing everything leading up to this kiss and I came to the conclusion that he must've fallen in love with Se-Ri at the tail end of their Pyongyang trip. I think he found himself feeling uneasy seeing her with another guy and that made him realize he likes her. And when she got drunk and admitted to him that she's starting to like "it" (being in North Korea and implying it's bc of him), it flattered him and reassured him she would reciprocate had their circumstances been more forgiving. I think from here onwards, he knew he would have to hold back around her because of the promise he made to Dan (hence he turned Se-Ri down when she asked him for a goodbye hug). He didn't think it would be a problem since Se-Ri was leaving soon anyway. Out of sight, out of mind. But she ended up staying so I think that's why he was pissed off when he woke up. How is he supposed to keep holding back now? She would be so close but so far. But after the doctor and the nurse put him on a guilt trip, he felt bad taking it out on her and finally gave in and went fuck it, my heart is yours. And so we get this kiss.
“You’re looking at me with those wistful eyes” literally him looking at her during every interview... I think they drew inspiration from their real life for this drama lol
Their chemistry is the main point to why this drama works for the audience. However, I think their romance developed so much because both of them are so honest with each other because they both were at one point lost in their lives; Jeong Hyeok lost his brother while Se Ri lost her mother. She didn't wanna live anymore but thanks to Jeong Hyeok's piano piece, it saved her. Jeong Hyeok's life was quiet and just dull as a soldier until he met Se Ri who brightened and colored his world which made him fell in love with her. Their honesty for each other is so strong that they could easily tell if either one was lying about their own feelings.
I have never watched korean drama before. In quarantine, I made netflix and it just came out as a suggestion. And it just made me so addicted, like I couldn't stop watching it. And now I feel it's one of the most beautiful serie I've ever watched, cause the love story is told so sweetly, I mean love and friendship are shown up in a rare precious way. It gives you goosebumps for the genuineness of emotions it describes. Love is so pure, we are so used by now to see love in a sexy way, here they show what love is, no sex, no vulgarity.. just caring of another person and doing whatever you can to keep her safe and happy, with no asking for something in return. You just jump in the void. It's precious. I will watch other korean dramas from now on.

The lips barely touching kiss is even more😳 romantic. The kiss is real, in the bts its real. Captain Ri kissed her lightly because he wasn sure she feels the same. The first kiss isnt those typical passionate full on mouth kiss. This had to be a bit more akward, unsure, but it looked very sweet😭

Most top Korean actresses such as Jun ji hyun, song hye kyo, park shin, bae suzy, Kim ji won and many others lacks the qualities than Son ye jin has. Of course those actresses are good though but they lack in some or the other such as, some lacks in emotional scenes, some in intimate scenes, some in comedy and etc but Son ye jin is killing it all. He was looking for something on her eyes. And, when he saw it, he kissed her. That moment, he accepted her feelings for her. He would not let that moment go. He knew that he loved her so much. He knew that this woman is the love of his life. The tears of care...no, love. The tears of love she had for him, made him kiss her. The both knew that they're trapped in that spell of love at that moment.

I just want to comment on how amazing this show is! I just finished it and it's definitely in my top 5 favorite of all times. It'll make you weep like a baby and laugh like never before. He would not let that moment go. He knew that he loved her so much. He knew that this woman is the love of his life. The tears of care...no, love. The tears of love she had for him, made him kiss her. The both knew that they're trapped in that spell of love at that moment.

I just want to comment on how amazing this show is! I just finished it and it's definitely in my top 5 favorite of all times. It'll make you weep like a baby and laugh like never before. I enjoyed every bit of this drama. I loved each character especially the chemistry between the leads. This drama is a must watch!
