  • Bay of Fundy is famous for its tides. The tides here are largest in size. In some areas, it can be as high as 45 ft !

    The bay is in the north east end of the Gulf of Maine between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia - two provinces of Canada. The tides go so high here due to the funnel shape of the bay. The wide mouth and narrow end creates huge tidal pressures responsible for so large tidal waves.

    • @stickswithme
      @stickswithme Год назад +7

      Because this is a time-lapse, the water seems to be moving fast. Obviously, reality is much different and when low tide comes in, the water "drains" at a slow enough pace that when the boats eventually hit the seafloor it's a very soft soft "landing" onto the new beach underneath it. Because it is being slowly lowered onto the ground, no, the rocks or ground won't damage it most of the time. However, damages do occur often.

    Does the constant floating/beaching process stress the hulls of the boats? My guess as a non-mariner would be that the boats' hulls are designed to take the weight along the length and beam of the boat, not down on a few specific locations.
