Man same, currently most of my activity is towards gathering resources for leggy gear but gw2 didn't click for 10 years and only begun playing regularly last year so a LOT to catch up
@@CAMattelaer I love GW2 but what I don't like is the restrictions for classes. My main is a guardian, every content unlocked, maps cleared, story done... but I want to play this dual mace ranger now while working on LIGHT lege armor... That's too much of a dilemma! xD The perfect solution would be allowing us to switch classes just like in FFXIV. One character - all classes available.
@@dingo.pI absolutely disagree with your last sentence. If that's what you prefer you should play 14, which is absolutely fine, but it doesn't fit into Guild Wars at all. That being said, you're still 100% correct about the problem itself. There is so much stuff that you really can't make character bound. Waypoints, story progression, map completion, bag slots, build and equipment templates... It's a long list and the way ANet handles it is close to unacceptable. You pay 5€ to have ONE character equip ONE extra item set or ONE more bag? That is ridiculous. Especially in a game where depending on you class, you could easily need: one set for Power, one set for Condi, one set for WvW (Marauder), one set for WvW (Celestial), and maybe even one more set for WvW (Zerg build with different runes). You start with two equipment templates so that's up to 15€ extra for each character you want to be able to play every build with, ONLY for equipment. If you're someone who likes to multi-class and play different builds and game modes this is a joke. ANet should totally fix this. If you pay this much money for banal stuff like a build template it HAS to be account wide. At the very, very least they should also add Equipment Templates to the Wizard's Vault as well, not only Build Templates.
@@Nitidus I said that just because I actually play 14 and I know how convenient it is for me. I guess I've been spoiled xD But yeah, I wouldn't mind class locked character if more things in GW2 were account wide. Redoing story just for the sake of continuity with new character is painful.
I've been trying to find something fun to try with ranger since I don't have much experience with it, maybe I'll try this when I have the chance! Thanks for your fun builds and other videos!
How did the 15% nerf to the maces (march 19 update) impact this buuld? This is the tekst in the patch notes: Force of Nature: Reduced the outgoing damage bonus from 25% to 10% and reduced the outgoing healing bonus from 25% to 10% in PvE only.
In the open world you barely feel it, if I'm honest. Champions take a bit longer, but that's about it. We're not in any more danger than before, maces were (and kind of still are) overtuned compared to the other new weapons, if I'm perfectly honest.
I've been enjoying mace a ton! I've been trying to make a soulbeast that uses Mace/Axe and Axe/Mace work but no luck, having both maces on the same weapons set seems to be the best way to make mace work. Appreciate the videos! keep them coming! any chance you are going to look at rev scepter?
I cooked up this one when playing around: gw2skills.net/editor/?POgAkmlZw6YQsImJOcL2P9S+WBA-DSIYR0wfG1KBqQBIzzCAUB-e Second weapon set is optional. You could try m/a a/m combo, although you might not gain the full benefit of Nature's Strength cd reset if your weapon swap is on cooldown.
2 maces works just fine - if you go mace/mace only, equip 1 in Set 1 main hand, and 1 in Set 2 off-hand. If you go mace/mace + mace/warhorn, you don't need to equip one in the second set, it'll just take the one from set 1.
Yep! You ideally want to be around 60% critical hit (or 50% when attacking mainly from the side/back) so that you can guarantee every hit being a critical strike. But that's about it.
Heh, now that you mention it. It was in my notes to divulge on those. I usually stick with smokescale out of personal preference, but any of the typical power pets work quite well. Or Jacaranda if you need that extra healing.
Oh, I agree. It was a toss up for me what I'd focus on for myself between these 2. But for general gameplay, it was a bit too hard to pass up the ambush attack.
Here's a soulbeast version :) gw2skills.net/editor/?POgAkmlZw6YQsImJOcL2P9S+WBA-DSIYR0wfG1KBqQBIzzCAUB-e You can swap Griffon Stance for Sic Em for an incredible boost to single target damage, I just like prioritizing mobility in the open world. Same with the eagle, replace for anything you might like - but it has an extremely long range dash.
I don't use my rangers for more than static alt farming. Every time I see a ranger vid, I get more than curious, but then I see smokescale as the pet and roll my eyes. I hate smokescale!! Fugly as hell, and just annoying (not hard... just annoying!) when wandering around open world. All my rangers have pets related to their theme/backstory, and sadly those pets are never "meta." Of course, in open world it doesn't matter, run what you want.. still depressing when only smokescale (and a couple others) are featured in builds/guides...
I actually featured it because I genuinely like being able to have one as a pet. But it's far from the only option, for the longest time I brought an aether hunter because that was new. But in reality, any pet that leans itself to power or some sort of boon should work well. I find the latter often undervalued by a lot of people, I often take some boons/defense for an overall smoother gameplay experience when solo. I'll keep it in mind to mix it up every now and then, though 😄
Honestly, the pets don't matter that much. Untamed doesn't deal its damage from pets but from massive damage in unleashed mode. So, take whatever you want. In my opinion, this build would benefit from full berserker stats and sword/axe for a swap. I'd also recommend the relic of the Midnight King, which grants 3x might + fury, then swap Spotter for the might trait so you should have more consistent might uptime as well as 100% fury uptime along with more frequent sources of fury to proc opening strikes. The damage is pretty insane. I've already done champ solos at over 26k DPS (without jade tech protocols) with this setup and I'm just a few days in. And it has better sustain by miles than any berserker build I've played. Plus those beefy sword ambush strikes hitting for up to 46k are delicious!

what a timing!
i love the way you edit the description of each skill while you talk about it, very helpful thanks ^^
Thanks! I try to add the visuals so I can keep the videos themselves concise, happy it's having the intended effect.
I love how you can also add Sigil of Paralyzation on top of all of this to add even more CC and just be a Damaging CC monster.
True! And you won't even suffer too much for providing CC with the new weapon set!
Also if youre used to the hammer & sword/axe build and rotation from before just switch out the hammer for mace/mace, sword rotation stays the same
Everytime you come up with new build - I want to try it. But it's so tiresome to change my main character so often!!! 🤣♥
I feel you! The reason I started crafting legendary gear was because I was spending a fortune on trying every build I came across or could think of 😅

In regard to the relic, where does the boon strip come from?
Your F2 Ability (Rending Vines) is a boonstrip :)

You have to have 3 maces for this build to benefit from the double ambush?
2 maces works just fine - if you go mace/mace only, equip 1 in Set 1 main hand, and 1 in Set 2 off-hand.
If you go mace/mace + mace/warhorn, you don't need to equip one in the second set, it'll just take the one from set 1.
The weapon cooldown is 10 second by default. It just shows 9 as in 9,99 and counting down.
I didn't know that 😯, I always assumed as I never counted for myself. Thanks for sharing!
I think that sigils with 9s cooldown also confuse people. :)
What's the second weapon for this? Hammer?
@@TonyPettersson-ij6kx thought it's dual mace?
