Now a days we are adding coolent liquid ( green colour) to avoid rust in engine block and other places in cooling circuit. This what I want to tell you. 50 yrs back there was no coolent only water we were filling in the engines. In addition to this one can add anti freezing agents to the coolent where cars are operated in severe minus degree temp.
When there was no wikipidia in those days we learnt and studied automobile engines dear.
