fun fact; the films tried to make it blue and bronze, but the bronze coloring kept messing with the camera and looking like a muddy washed out mess in the original film, so they had to switch it to a "cleaner" color.

I just want to add, Lockhart is a genius. He came up with a great plan on how he can be famous with the least amount of effort and it totally worked. It's not that he's not talented, he's just lazy. He mastered memory charms and figured out how he can be very famous with only that. Lockhart is rightfully in Ravenclaw and I'm saying this as a Ravenclaw.

It's a Ravenclaw Vs a Hermione (who is a Gryffindor) thing. Ravenclaw was so different to just plain old smarts that Hermione wasn't put in it. Yes, Hermione's Gryffindor traits are there...but Trelawney even made a joke about her being too closed/mundane minded, stuffy, and straight lined. She's very very school minded while Ravenclaw doesn't have that limitation that Hermione has. That's what I find helps me understand jokes, quotes, and comments about Ravenclaw intelligence; they are NOT Hermione. 😂

He may have been a part-goblin but he is one of the most powerful wizards, he is a duelling champion and the best charm teacher. He is also the second most powerful ravenclaw, after Rowena Ravenclaw herself.

"Luna Lovegood isn't really the best representation of Ravenclaw." I somewhat disagree there, because despite her being an outcast even among her housemates, she displays creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, which are key traits that Ravenclaw values. Her intelligence is there it just manifests differently. Although I agree that Ravenclaw does deserve a character who represents the average Ravenclaw instead of it kind of being "either you're a Luna or you're a Cho Chang" type of deal.
I don't understand why Luna got a bad rap in her own house like we are full of outside thinking, why would we shun her? That's not Ravenclaw. Smart people don't hurt others unless they threaten them of which Luna doesn't so... Yeah, it makes no sense.

@@DahliaLegacy sometimes the smartest people are scared of what they don't understand and Luna being less logical may be frightening to a house of logical thinkers who typically don't understand people that well
Yeah, intelligence and knowledge aren't the defining characteristic of a Ravenclaw. It's the thirst for knowledge, intuition and creative thinking. That's what made Luna suitable for Ravenclaw. She was always willing to think outside of the box, unlike say Hermione, who ( although very knowledgeable ) was consistently stubborn and narrow-minded throughout the books.

@@janeschwab1682 the hufflepuff badger is not a honey badger though. It is a European badger and they are very different animals as European badgers tend to live together and work together (like hufflepuffs) whereas honey badgers live by themselves.

As a ravenclaw, I like the Eagle more as its just kinda a cooler mascot. However if you're going off of what best fits the house, the raven is the perfect symbol.
Why not both? Like you have intelligence like a Raven, and reach high like an Eagle.
I think they should just make the Raven canon, people just automatically think of a Raven when they think Ravenclaw. Plus as noted by this video, the Revan would be a better representation for the values of the house. An eagle on the other hand is just a cool-looking bird.
I feel like an eagle represents more like bravery. A raven intelligence. I think it fits better.
Although amazingly smart, ravens are scavenger birds. They usually seek their food being at the bottom, taking what others left. Eagles, on the other hand, are birds of prey. Boldness, intelligence, strength, elegance and superiority over the prey make the eagle a more suitable animal to represent the house, in my opinion.

People always used to say Hufflepuff was, but that claim has been made so much that it has reversed their situation and made it so they are almost overcompensating, now being up there with Gryffindor and Slytherin for popularity - Ravenclaw is the MOST overlooked house by a mile and has been since way before any of the Fantastic Beast films.

Honestly, I nearly wanted to start crying when I saw the title. Finally, a video all about us!
I am a Ravenclaw and some of the problems i deal with is that many people tease me and say that i'm a nerd and don't belong in most social groups.

But wouldn't you be bored in most social groups? My experience is that it's best to embrace your unique individuality, be content with a very few close friends and go anywhere you want to go as if you rule the world without needing "acceptance".
I think it is important to acknowledge that ALL of the houses have stereotypes. I am a Hufflepuff. I agree that Ravenclaws definitely get the shorter end of the stick. I will say that unfortunately, when I tell people that I am in Hufflepuff, they say things like “Hufflepuffs are weak” or “Hufflepuffs are the leftover house.” Also, it is possible to be a kind Slytherin; you can be ambitious and not be a bad person.
As a ravenclaw, I really appreciate this. Even at Harry Potter world at universal, it’s hard to find good racenclaw merch.

Olivander is pretty good representation. He's brilliant and intellectually unusual because of his obsession. Ravenclaws love that. He's also a pretty important character since he was kidnapped and imprisoned for his knowledge and mastery.

Right? After noticing J's "Shrewd" shirt in a previous video, I looked up similar shirts for the other houses, but "Shrewd" is a way better word than "Loyal," "Brave," or "Wise."
It’s really sad, especially considering those two are my main houses. Literally the first time I took the pottermore quiz it said Hufflepuff and the second time I took it I got Ravenclaw so I’m essentially a Ravenpuff (or Huffleclaw if you prefer that name)

There was a new clothing store in Hungary (where I live) that carried hp merch. I was so happy I could fly (cause you can only get it online and shipping is sooooo expensive). So I went and saw hoodies with the house crests and there was no ravenclaw one! there was slytherin, hufflepuff, gryyfindor and one with all four. i asked the girl who worked there if it sold out, but she said they never had one because it just isn't popular enough! I was so crushed... Like until fantastic beasts, hufflepuff and ravenclaw were on the sidelines together, but since then, ravenclaw is the forgotten house :(

When I first read Harry Potter I was afraid of being in either Gryffindor or Slytherin because of the conflict and I didn't want people to think I wanted to be in the same house as the "good" characters. Thankfully I'm not fussed anymore.

Has anybody ever noticed that Harry, Hermione and Ron all have traits of the other 3 houses? Harry traits of Slytherin, Hermione of Ravenclaw and Ron of Hufflepuff.

I would say that Ron’s loyalty is a bit more shaky. He clearly abandons Hermione over petty squabbles many times in the books, and abandoned Harry for the entire beginning of the Goblet of Fire. He also listened to Dumbledore rather than write to Harry, his best mate, after the tragic death of Cedric. His kindness is also sort of in contention. And he definitely isn’t a hard worker most of the time in the books.
Hermione has a hard time processing information that isn’t well-known, well backed by evidence, and logical in her own perspective. She isn’t someone who studies much for curiosity, and instead she does so because she strives to be the best and to prove her worth to others. Admittedly, she is quite wise and quite good at applying wit and improvisation to her troubles.
Harry does show a fair bit of ambition throughout his time at Hogwarts, aiming to win the Triwizard Tournament, helping to lead a student rebellion against Umbridge, planning to defeat one of the most powerful wizards of his time, and aiming to have a family. Nonetheless, Harry does not usually act in his own interests alone, and he usually takes incredibly reckless and dangerous actions for the sake of others. Harry also isn’t particularly cunning, as we see several times throughout the series that he isn’t a good liar and he doesn’t have a strong grip on his emotions.
Overall, they all fit perfectly as Gryffindors. They’re the right amount of reckless, the right amount of chivalrous (loyal, but not in the kind and forgiving way that most Hufflepuffs are), and the right amount of courage (overcoming their fears for the good of others and themselves).

Good french translation. In portuguese we have Ravenclaw translated as "Corvinal". Corvo means Raven.
People really need to know that the mascot of ravenclaw isn't a raven but an eagle... If the translation was good it's because I speak french and I read the Harry Potter books in french 😊

The french translation is very good tbh the only thing i was disappointed with is that they didn't change Slughorn's name when it was a really good opportunity to show creativity. But apart from that it's a really good example of what happens when translators actually put a lot of thoughts into a translation. For example, changing Tom Riddle's name so that it is an anagram for "je suis lord voldemort" instead of "i am ...", while keeping the "Tom" part because he has to have the same name as the bartender, and while still managing to squeeze in a play on word with Jedusor - Jeu du sort (roughly translates to "the game of fate") like WOW i can't imagine how they managed to come up with that
Luna is my favorite character, I love her 💙 but… she was introduced to late, which didn’t leave a lot of time for Ravenclaw to leave there mark. If she was introduced earlier I think us Ravenclaw could say we have a main character.
The reason our logo is an eagle is because it's blue and bronze for the eagles claws and the sky behind them. Also one of ravenclaws key traits that doesn't get much recognition is individuality.
Also Luna was referenced in the first book durin Harry's sorting as 'Lilly Moon' which shows she was originally meant to be in his year.

In Hogwarts Mystery (the app game) even though you can choose which house your character is sorted into (I chose Ravenclaw), I feel as if your character in the game makes the most sense of you are a Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw hasn’t had proper representation as you said. Even on one of the loading screens there’s an image of Skye Parkin, a quidditch player who is on your house’s team no matter what house you choose, except in the loading screen image she’s wearing Ravenclaw house colors, so the protagonist was clearly intended to be sorted into Ravenclaw

Valuing individuality does not automatically mean everyone in the house is actually kind. Every house has jerks (yes, even Hufflepuff, fight me). And personally, I also think Ravenclaw is maybe the least collectively social house as well, so it's easy to understand you'd have outliers and loners in a house like that. Being very individualistic, they don't necessarily have such a strong teamwork mentality that we see in Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs.

It is a major bummer that we don't have a main character like Harry or Newt. It'd be interesting to see how a Ravenclaw would navigate the challenges that protagonists have to face. It would be so cool to see our values reflected in a lovable Ravenclaw character as the magical and mysterious storyline unfolds, with puzzles and logic, danger and adventure, heartbreaking moments and lessons, culminating in wise Ravenclaw-like bravery.
I feel Ravenclaw is so underrated because for one not that many popular characters are in there.
Also people tend to think of us as wanting to show off

I agree but I am a little disappointed that Ravenclaw were not really shown that much in the films like in the sorting ceremony they showed people getting sorted into gryffindor slytherin and hufflepuff but no Ravenclaw. Ravenclaws aren’t really shown besides Luna and cho and the rest of the Ravenclaws are extras I would have liked for them to show a little more Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw here. There actually is a species of Eagle (Ictinaetus malaiensis) that is black and it’s shape looks sorta like a raven. Of course, it has an eagle beak, but looking at the common crest of the House, the bird featured has an eagle like beak. So no, the bird on the crest is not a raven, it is an eagle. It just looks like a raven.
As for the bronze, I see what is going on. However, in the “official house logos” all of the crests have silver. It appears to be in unity. For the other merch, people associate blue with silver most of the time. It appears more pleasing to the eye and you can’t really make a bronze fabric without it looking like dirt brown. I personally like the silver, it reminds me of the night sky and moon.

Luna Lovegood is an amazing example of what a Ravenclaw is, maybe not all Ravenclaws but one could argue that she is more Ravenclaw than most
She is constantly doing something to train her brain
She always thinks outside of the box
She always thinks about things from many different angles and so much more
Yeah she may be a bit (or a lot) out of the ordinary but that is what makes her such an amazing Ravenclaw
Yes she is but she was bullied by other ravenclaws which makes me think that most ravenclaws were not like her and that's why they bullied her. She didn't represent an average Ravenclaw. She represented a very unique Ravenclaw. And she isn't a lead character. She appears in the fifth book and becomes almost insignificant in the seventh and all other houses had significant characters throughout the series

They are *cerebral,* meaning that they are perceptive, thoughtful, introspective, imaginitive and creative.
But can also be anxious, doubtful, antisocial or self-concious.
How can Luna be not a great representation of Ravenclaw?

I have a feeling that the all of the houses were overall better fleshed out in the fandom than in the books. Possibly because the books are more from Harry's P.O.V. I do wish we could see a fuller, richer representation of the houses from the series in general.
And yeah - the colours and house emblem being misrepresented to this extent is ridiculous! It's almost like when you're a kid, and you're writing test, and you're not sure of a spelling for a word, so you keep alternating between two (if not more) spellings, in the hope that at least one of them is right! :P
