As an American, I have always been very impressed with how good Lithuania is at basketball. For such a small country they sure put together some tough teams. I certainly respect the way they play, its fun to watch. Much respect from the USA
USA has the best fans and love for the game. Just because we don't light flares and scream like retards (that's not cheering, you Europeans literally act like morons) doesn't mean we're bad fans. It means we're civil and have brains, something you Europeans lack.
@NTMIB What's more satisfying? The critics who said we can't play as a team, can't defend the pick and roll, back door cuts and can't shoot the ball. Well, the 2008 Olympics and the 2010 FIBA World Championship showed that we adjusted to their game to go along with our speed, athleticism and fast break explosiveness.
USA once again shows why they are the KINGS of the basketball world. USA 4 Life! Red, White, and Blue! USA= 2008 Olympic gold medal winner. 2010 FIBA WC gold medal winner. We are the best and we will continue to be the best.
Yes we don't have such talents as KD but we play as a team. Before championship everyone expected that such countries as USA, Spain, Greece, Argentina, Serbia will fight for medals but not us. Everytime our team is thought as not among leaders and everytime we have to prove that even small countries can fight vs giants. I was dissapointed after this loss but this just shows that we believe that we can beat everyone and it keeps us alive.
Referees were for US, as Lithuania started to recover, thei didn't count our two points and gave Mačiulis foul for nothing, also not always counted 3 seconds, travelling and fouls for US.
No matter we lost I think we showed that we can fight with everybody and don't give up till the end. USA team played well and deserved gold but I always believe in my country and basketball is our religion not americans. We can loose we can win but we live in it for Americans its just number 2-4 sport, for ourselves it's more than sport. We lost but we achieved a lot and remember our team also renewed so players practised together only before tournament and also it was even younger than yours.
@Nameofoglon I wouldn't say much better. 2010 only beat Spain by 1 point in a friendly and Brazil by 2 points in pool play while the 2008 team one all games by double digits. Plus 2008 was a harder tournament. Just look at the NBA 2011 all-star game, 11 players were in the 2008 tournament while only 4 were in the 2010 one.
This American basketball team would win vs theoretical European, African, Asian and Australian national teams. Additionally, if you divided American teams up into regional teams, much like the NBA in terms of how MANY teams there would be, USA would still win with stride. The level of competition in the United States is unrivaled.
I'm Greek and i respect all countries in all ways. And for the people that dont respect all countries due to their overly patriotic mindset or government problems or prior wars or whatever, don't express your hatred here. Thank you
And I thousand times said to my friend : "We are good, powerful, we'll win today" And he thousand times said to me: "No way" But better unborn than not to believe at all.
@Nameofoglon Better then 2008 with Kobe? That's arguable. In 2008 USA won every game by double digits while in 2010 USA beats Brazil by just 2 points. Also I think 2008 was a tougher tournament (Spain with Pau Gasol, Argentina with Ginobli)
listen guys why are you all saying shit about lithuania? our national team is amazing... we are 5th in the world and even if we lose few matches it doesn't mean we are shit. yes i have to admit that usa are good BUT they are not unbeatable, they are NOT fucking basketball gods, and they are not the best in the fucking world... so stop saying shit about my country and think! i'm proud of them, and i really believe in them... LITHUANIA ROCKS :)
3) In short, I'm really saddened that practically everyone here, Lithuanian and American alike, has absolutely no concept of sportsmanship. It's about playing the game and playing the best you can. Winning is the icing on the cake for hard work (and of course, talent). Lithuania played admirably, but the U.S. played better. That’s it. Good game. End of story.
@SuperPippen33 Of course you do, but you put on a memorable game vs Spain! Why should the U.S.A. not participate when they can offer a match like the final in Pekin? You didn't win so easily, although you won by 30 in the first round against the same team, but that doesn't matter, everyone wants to see NBA superstars and every player dreams about beating them!
Still great respect to lithuanians as they were fighting till their last breath... Sure americans were too good, and this team looked MUCH better than that of 2008 (with Kobe and all other "stars", really wonder why do those "professionals" play so badly in last 14 yrs). But take in consideration the moment 9:47 (2 pts by Gecevicius, that were not considered) and 11:19 (as Odom was at least 6 SECONDS IN THE 3 SEC ZONE!) so the difference would've been 8 pts, and who knows, how it all could end.
@tiktok51 Honestly America did fine prior to using professional basketball players on the olympic team, so i'm sure we'd do fine... Alot of you guys are making it sound like the Lithuanian team are just a random group of guys from off the street, yet each of those players have been playing basketball their entire lifves. There are quite a few NBA calibre players on the team and Kleiza has legitimate potential, so it's hardly the "David vs. Goliath" matchup everyone seems to be portraying it as.
And you guys need to learn basketball, US plays the most entertaining basketball, the fastest, hardest, most technical basket in the world. That is why only Linas from your Country can fit in the NBA. The rest of them can't think fast enough. Lithuania is a great basketball nation with great shots and great team work. But individually they have no chance at all, and USA has the best defense that's why they can run up free and slam dunk. Defense is just as important as Offense watch nba and learn
@Nameofoglon because no one really cared about international basketball anymore since they're tired of winning. Look what happens when the interest is back!!!
@FearlessLT So sad? Barely won? 15 points is barely won? This isn't 1992 where the USA is going to beat everyone by 30 points anymore. And how is it sad? It was the semifinals of a competition the US had't made the finals in in 16 years and they won by 15 points. I think it is very impressive with the world catching up in basketball that the USA went defeated in the Olympics and the World Championship. Not sad!
@Tomytoism you obviously didn't read his comment correctly. He was backing his country up. Someone else was being a stupid troll i bet. All he did was stand behind his country
@harmor515.. Dude, in the US.. If you are born here you are considered an American! An African American... Americans came from the British so there really aren't any americans if you are trying to be technical about it. But yea.. if you are born here you're American and you become Americanized and living the American life... not the European life or w/e because the US is a complete different country compared to others!
@MrHuddo Hm, American citizens? why is Dirk fighting for germany? why is Ginobili in the Argentina national team? And Gasol, are you kidding me? I don't want to be racist, but that's kind of stupid :D
@algifootball I agree, many countries love basketball more than USA. but they just don't have black people. or that they have black people but not much money. i personally plays a lot basketball with black people and i can't jump as high as them. and thats a big disadvantage in basketball.
@MegaQul Kevin Love is white and Stephan Curry's mom is white. Good luck with the gold. Everybody knows if Lithuania was in the other bracket they would have won silver.
Lithuanian fans are so funny... You guys played the USA B- Team.. not the A- Team. haha.. The A- Team will be playing this coming 2012 olympics.. .. so be ready Lithuanians.. Cause Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Paul, Bosh, Howard, Williams.. and Kevin Durant will be playing this 2012. Good Luck! hahaha
As an American, I have always been very impressed with how good Lithuania is at basketball. For such a small country they sure put together some tough teams. I certainly respect the way they play, its fun to watch. Much respect from the USA
0:46 Lithuanians singing anthem
1:15 Americans chewing gum
Summarizes everything about passion for basketball.
No other nation in the world loves basketball more than Lithuania. Basketball for Lithuanians is like second religion.
+mantvizs lol salty as hell and singing your anthem wtf how does that show passion for basketball
LOL
USA has the best fans and love for the game. Just because we don't light flares and scream like retards (that's not cheering, you Europeans literally act like morons) doesn't mean we're bad fans. It means we're civil and have brains, something you Europeans lack.
100% true
I'm from USA. Lithuania played a great game, part of me even wanted to see them win, lol.

@NTMIB
What's more satisfying? The critics who said we can't play as a team, can't defend the pick and roll, back door cuts and can't shoot the ball.

We are the best and we will continue to be the best.
I am Lithuanian and Durant is my favourite player in the US team, he can do anything on the court his three point shots are so good.
Maybe if you people would watch "The Other Dream Team" its about Lithuania than maybe you would show some respect to Lithuania.
Yes we don't have such talents as KD but we play as a team. Before championship everyone expected that such countries as USA, Spain, Greece, Argentina, Serbia will fight for medals but not us. usa is nothing without there nba stars
It was a great, hyped game and don't blame anybody that USA won it.PEACE!
@Nameofoglon I wouldn't say much better. 2010 only beat Spain by 1 point in a friendly and Brazil by 2 points in pool play while the 2008 team one all games by double digits. Great quality compared to some other carp people are putting up.
I'm Greek and i respect all countries in all ways. And for the people that dont respect all countries due to their overly patriotic mindset or government problems or prior wars or whatever, don't express your hatred here. Thank you
I love the way Lithuania plays...If there weren't the freaking unstopable superstar Kevin Durent, Lithuanians would had a chance to bring U.S. down.
@Nameofoglon that couldn't have been 3 seconds. 3 shots were put up. the count started over 3 times

This announcer needs a glass of water.
@mantvizs you are funny. How about all the US steals, and dunks? & when we blocked ur players, were those fouls to?
That looked like only a 2 at 9:34
3) In short, I'm really saddened that practically everyone here, Lithuanian and American alike, has absolutely no concept of sportsmanship. It's about playing the game and playing the best you can. Still next FIBA is in lithunia that will not be epic because it will be in my hometown.

Any questions? :)
The Girl Wearing White Blouse at 12:43 to 12:45 :). She's so beautiful!
@Nameofoglon Well I don't know. USA has won two in a row and is going for their third in 2012!
@SuperPippen33 Of course you do, but you put on a memorable game vs Spain! Why should the U.S.A. not participate when they can offer a match like the final in Pekin? Man..... this announcer guy needs a little less caffeine, and the English one needs a little more lol
Olympic basketball... the ONLY time I'll root for a Duke Blue Devil, Coach Kryzewski haha.
at 8:33 seems like Coach K's last two words are: "...F***ing Moron"
it was september 11 the lithuanians remembered 9/11 so they dint want to make the americans cry so they let them win :D
@MrHuddo dirk from germany, nash from canada, ginobili - argentina , gasol - spain. What you mean ?:D back to school
Still great respect to lithuanians as they were fighting till their last breath... @gabepizza but they lost to Serbia?
@tiktok51 Honestly America did fine prior to using professional basketball players on the olympic team, so i'm sure we'd do fine... @gaidziomesa Yes, I have a question. Isn't basketball 5 vs. 5?
I love lithuania ( as myliu Lietuva)
why did Bryant not play?
Serbia has five international medals, one in the history of the FIBA no!!
And you guys need to learn basketball, US plays the most entertaining basketball, the fastest, hardest, most technical basket in the world. @Tomytoism you obviously didn't read his comment correctly. He was backing his country up. Someone else was being a stupid troll i bet. All he did was stand behind his country
2 dislikes were from Lithuanians.
Lithuania almost beat usa today
@SuperPippen33 Imho no if Griffin would have played with the last year's one
It's less serious and more common sense. You're comment really doesn't make any sense.
@harmor515.. Dude, in the US.. If you are born here you are considered an American! An African American... he is a nba superstar. haha
@algifootball
I agree, many countries love basketball more than USA. but they just don't have black people. or that they have black people but not much money. i personally plays a lot basketball with black people and i can't jump as high as them. and thats a big disadvantage in basketball.
KD is good !!!
@harmor515 White Americans are more into Soccer, Ice hockey, baseball, and American Football more than basketball so I'm sure you're probably right.
Dude I have the same name as you
@MegaQul Kevin Love is white and Stephan Curry's mom is white. Good luck with the gold. Everybody knows if Lithuania was in the other bracket they would have won silver.
I luv you
Lithuanian fans are so funny... Good Luck! hahaha
