no it's the best superhero game of all time. also spiderman 2018 take the 2nd spot it's the same case for movies ( dark knight triology is the best followed by tobey maguire spiderman ) while all other superheroes movie are pure trash
Nope. Arkham Knight. It’s such a psychological thriller, in which the hero and the villain are the same people. I never saw that concept anywhere else, not even in Arkham City, though I’d say it’s the second best batman game I’ve played. ❣️
Love how people try to troll BP fans by saying that the hand-holding "world tour" mechanics of all other Burnout titles are actually superior to the ALL-IN-1 open world of Paradise.
The problem with GTA Online is that it isn't actually fun. While my friends and I do have fun just screwing around with the physics engine, launching cars and whatnot, the rest of the online mode is just a lifestyle management simulator. We all ended up quitting because it was just about keeping our businesses running and trying to out-troll professional trolls. In fact, the online experience has so tarnished what I think of GTA that I'm going to wait a few months after 6 comes out before deciding whether or not to buy. I pick up GTA titles for the single-player experience and I want to KNOW ahead of time that that was the focus of the development team.
@Austin Masoni Maybe it's great, but tell me something: Would you enjoy the game world if it weren't for the great traversal system? I mean, the world is beautiful with AWESOME graphics, but it reinforces everything that is wrong with open world games. Every side-mission, collectible, just there to keep you traveling from point A to B. In the Arkham games, however, the side missions are great bcoz they're unique albeit a few sucky ones. Also, the Boss Battles in Arkham City cannot be compared to the ones in Spider-Man. The Mr. Freeze Boss Fight forces you to think laterally because you don't have the luxury of repeating the same stuff again. He'll kill you. In Spider-Man, you have to swing around and web Electro and Vulture. It's the same with the Rhyno-Scorpion Boss Fight.
For commenters edition, Devil May Cry 5 *COMPLETELY RUINED* Hack n Slash for me. Running through DMC 5 on Dante Must Die mode is an absolute thrill, and the combat is super responsive. The two other Hack n Slash masterpieces that come to mind don’t even touch DMC 5 as Nier Automata has an incredible story but it’s combat is a bore in comparison, and Bayonetta has simply a less enjoyable version of the gameplay from DMC and although putting more emphasis on visual spectacle, never lives up to the amazing little over-the-top moments in DMC. Who could ever forget Dante riding that missile?
I''ll agree on WoW, as it's pretty much the king of the mmo-mountain (or mmountain) for a reason, but if anything, Dark Souls spawned a genre (or sub-genre), not killed it. With Zelda it depends on which one you mean.
@@chrissouthall411 don't be a skyrim hater it's reason when it came out it took over everything and is still the game other games are compared too. Dark Souls created its own genre but it does not ruin any genre as it does appeal to mass gamers beause of its lore, atmosphere, deep meaning and difficulty where as games like GTA are simply fun, relatable and massive open world with interacting elements.
@@justinchristy9047 He was saying that creating a genre isn't ruining it. Dark souls is a great game, but as there wasn't anything in that genre (not counting demon souls) prevalent enough to destroy until Dark souls came along, the genre was rather set at a high peak from the beginning, as opposed to having a midtier ruined by one great game.
Awesome as always, I actually just found these guys and went through most of the catalog of videos. If you guys were to do a fan pick edition I would recommend Demon's Souls/Dark Souls (a given really), Pokemon Colosseum, it was a vastly different take on the traditional formula and gave you 3 different modes that me and my friends spent hours on, or even Overlord 2, it was a traditional RPG but never took itself seriously, even when you accidentally got your best minions killed the game was like "Alright, you accidentally ran him over...a little spit and he's good as new"
Only to revive itself again with Classic a couple of weeks ago. No other MMO, save for maybe Guild Wars, has really managed to get a viable market share. WoW made MMOs mainstream, and simultaneously killed any chance imitators might have.
Freespace 2 was quite possibly the definitive game of the space sim genre, but the genre more or less disappeared afterwards and we never got a Freespace 3 even though Freespace 2 left SO MUCH potential for storytelling within that universe.
@@thewhizkid3937 There are tons of FPS shooters and took years to get like sub genres of it. In the beginnning they are were all Doom and or Wolfenstein Clones. That was never a problem. Even late 90's had RTS Boom from Blizz games to CnC series. But everything in between, als lots of clones. But as soon Saints Row came out Take 2 sues Dev/Publisher of the game. Thats why the went the super hero weird route with the Row Series. to not get sued. Plenty other genre's as soon as they got popular. It pioneers a genre and lots of clone type of games came out. Trends you see today is how to capitalize on micro transactions and what not. Story seems less important or goes back in quality. Especially for all the Online/Co-op Shooter type of games.

I'd personally add these industry changing games: - Need for Speed Underground (first game involving endless customisation options and free roaming (underground 2). - Crisis (mind-blowing graphics setting a complete new standard). - Assassin's Creed II (emotional story telling, character development and exploration). - World of Warcraft (creating a huge change in the mmo-rpg scene). - Counter Strike (creating a whole new niche within the gaming industry, boosting the esports scene). - Command & Conquer Red Alert / Tiberian Sun: innovative base building and involvement of new CPU intelligence and responsiveness.
Well when you talk about stealth genre keep that in mind splinter cell invented it and to be precise chaos theory and blacklist were the most amazing games of splinter delivered so far one of the best stealth action
Jules - thank you for the love towards Astro Bot. One of those quintessential titles that you can’t appreciate until you actually play it and can see just how the VR aspect blows the platforming genre wide open. Games that make me regress to feeling how I did when I was a kid are why I still love video games - AstroBot delivered this in spades
Am I the only one that thinks he wither 3 is overrated ? Like it’s more for hardcore gamers not for casual games who can pick up and play games like cod 4 or gta 5
Phantasy Star Online: Episodes 1 & 2 This game was the first console MMORPG and helped establish MMOs on consoles during the Gamecube/Xbox/PS2 era before online consoles became a thing. Its simple gameplay style offset by somewhat lackluster graphics were minor nuisances compared to the fun of getting together with 3 friends and clearing every enemy in an area as well as an obligatory gigantic boss.I suspect it was also the inspiration for action MMOs like Tera as most damage mitigation was through moving out of the way of an attack.
Kingdom Hearts: "You can't have an action adventure RPG" "hold my beer" Legacy of Kain Series: "Who likes story, lore, dialogue, and very good combat?"
Yeah Red Dead 2, Spider-Man, God of War, Uncharted 4, Persona 5 and Sekiro all did that for me. No other game has come close for me. If you can’t tell I’m a rather new gamer. Only a few years
well. meta gear for nice interms of freedom, but for me great stealth games will always be hitman, splinter cell and the old MGS, and the first 2 are not imitators lol

"going from [Witcher 3] to almost anything else makes them feel shallow" while showing a picture of Skyrim Skyrim is the best game of all time and I will stand by that. Skyrim has so much replayability, so many play styles, and several great storylines. And that's not even to mention the incredible mod community that sprung up around it. Even if you disagree with this, its a false equivalency, with skyrim being four years older than the Witcher 3, on the previous console generation. If you want to say it's better than anything else at the time, compare it to its contemporaries, like MGS 5, Just Cause 3, or AC Syndicate (not to put those three on equal footing; Syndicate was just okay). idk i just felt like writing something
Was MGSV really that impactful? I finished that the main story and tossed it aside. I didn't care for anything else it had. Also, with respect to platformers, Mario has pretty much owned for decades on that genre with numerous hits. How can nothing Nintendo related be on here??
GTA Online..I absolutely loved it at first before my 360 bit the dust...then R* continued to focus on it instead of creating single player content, now I despise it.
This list was absolutely fantastic. Furthermore, your message at the end of the video is very true. Take me for example, I was born with a debilitating disease (hydrocephalus). My parents were told that they would be lucky if I could talk. Even though you cannot tell, I have had eight neurosurgical procedures so far in my life. I am blind in one eye and have had 5 major procedures on my stomach (VP lateral shunt revisions). I'm living proof you can make it if you stick it out and never let anything get you down. Not only have I refused to accept disability, I put myself through school. I have degrees in both criminal justice and criminal psychology. Further, I'm engaged to the woman of my dreams who is equally as educated as I and drop dead gorgeous. We both are earning our master's in our respective fields and just paid off our second home. We both grew up hard and have really made a go at life. If I can do it so can anyone else. Too anyone reading this, don't let anybody pull you down. You are loved and you can do it. Never give up and reaxh for your dreams no matter how sick, old, tired, and angry you may be, you can do it. This was just an epic look at some amazing games.
Skyrim is an amazing game, i do agree. But it’s quite old in today’s date and many better open world games have been made after Skyrim. For example - Witcher 3, assassin’s creed odyssey etc etc. maybe when TES6 comes out, they’ll set a bar the bar very high.
@sloppy poop why what? Why should these games be on the list or why am I addicted to Blizzard games? The answer to the first is that each of these games destroyed all other competition in their genre to the point that no one else can compete (Kind of the point of the list if you watched the video.) World of Warcraft, Outside of Final Fantasy no one has even been able to maintain a subscription model for more than 6 months to a year, and even they are light years behind Warcraft's numbers there. Warcraft 3 was such a good RTS that the only other game that has even tried to compete was, also made by Blizzard (aka Starcraft 2), but not only that Warcraft 3 was so good it created a whole new sub genre of games based on the RTS formula that currently dominates all esports. (Aka DoTA and LoL). Hearthstone basically (and I only say basically because I cannot think of any other collectable CARD games that predate it but I am certain there must be some) invented the genre but every single other one that has come after it is not only riding it's coat tails but failing miserably in the attempt. As for the second possibilyt of the question you asked, "why" , if you mean why am I addicted to these games and their Parent company Blizzard. It's because for over 25 years they have yet to deliver a single flop. Everything they have every released that I have played has been off the chain amazing, groundbreaking, and genre defining.
@@elias_xp95 Depends on what you mean by successful. Most MMOs cannot sustain a subscription model and are reduced to using a FTP/microtransaction model after their first six months to a year. (I believe this includes SWOTR, but I could be mistaken.) Moreover for most MMOs a success is counted in the hundreds of thousands of players, where for Warcraft success is counted in the millions. Now Blizzard no longer reveals sub numbers, to anyone even their shareholders, but, the fact that they are able to, for the most part, subsist on a subscription model and that WoW is the single most profitable IP they have, says a LOT of how high those subscriptions numbers truly are. Sure there have been times when the numbers have taken a hit, but never for very long and never in a way drastic enough to cause Blizzard to consider a FTP/microtransaction model.
That moment when Jules rips into everyone, saying that he raised the bar above all of them and then says he is kidding, but is actually totally right lol. I love the others at WC but the only person who was ever on his level was Ben Potter
I’ve been playing RDR2 for over a year now. I cannot stop playing it. It’s pretty much the greatest video game I have ever played. It shits on every open world game I have ever played and leaves them in the dust. I don’t think Rockstar will be able to top it until they have more powerful hardware to work with. It has indeed set the grand standard for the single player open world experience imo. I’ve watched videos of people playing Witcher 3 and I’m sorry but RDR2 still takes the cake. Especially in terms of how the game looks.
I know there is a law of "don't you dare badmouth any legend of zelda or Kojima made game" but come on, Metal Gear Solid V is not good at all, a bland, quiet open world game. All you do is pass by guard posts over and over, so what you do is try to just go by the side of your horse because i don' t want anything to do with it anymore. Then waste hours getting plants and dumb resorces to make some upgrade to a structure in your base. To make matters worse, while on an actual mission you stay in a closed area anyway xD
Seriously, though. What genre are they even saying got ruined by MGSV? The genre of walking through empty open worlds to progress through something that doesn't even qualify as a story? I guess all games in that genre suck by definition. MGSV is certainly not the best stealth game (that would be MGS1 or MGS3), nor the best open world game (almost all AAA open world games do this aspect better), nor the best cinematic game (MGS 1, 2, 3, and 4 beat it here, as well as the Uncharted series). It's not even the best "approach this mission many different ways!" game. Those who have anything good to say about MGSV are just fooling themselves. Look, guys, I paid $60 for it when it came out, too. I know that it's easier to convince yourselves that the game was good so that you don't feel cheated out of your hard earned money. But it was awful.
@@Chishannicon thank you good sir, i agree, I feel 3 is the best in mechanics but 4 most interesting in story and feels especially that final battle. And V is nothing at all just people sentimental because is the final MGS made by Kojima or something... Worse MGS is better in story than Splinter Cell but Splinter Cell easily has the best stealth mechanics and this is since Chaos Theory in my opinion
Jack Shizu all metal gear games ruined the stealth genres. Mgsv was perfect in terms of control. Stop kidding yourself buddy. It's a masterpiece and u have a different opinion which is completely fine. But it's still a masterpiece
@@theendboss4849 just give it a few years and you'll see. There is proof that people do mess up in their opinions especially of those "untouchable" games. Look at Grand Theft Auto IV reviews with perfect 10/10 scores and jjst last year finally people started saying it was bad and GTA San Andreas was better. But again let's just wait for time to tell
MGSV had amazing stealth mechanics and many possibilities to approach a mission. I don't know if you could say it's enough to ruin the stealth genre, but it clearly has some outstanding features and great mechanics. The problem is that the level design is so terrible that you end up using the same simple tactics for almost the entirety of the game, there's not even a single mission that means a challenge in stealth terms like in previous MGS games, and the open and repetitive environments don't help either. Also, the removal of the enemy status system was a pretty bad idea to begin it, but overall it does has some unique mechanics that were wasted with repetitive missions and stupid enemies.
Nice list, here are some amazing titles not on the list. [Platformer] Mario 64 or ocarina of time, [RPG] fallout new vegas, [Sandbox]minecraft, [skating lol]Tony hawk pro skater, [Story you play]The Wolf Among Us, [keeping homies alive] Sims, [zombie] The last of us[sports] Wii Sports, [Stealth] Farcry 3(2 is too clunky without mods)[fighting] super smash brothers melee, [fighting monsters]Shadow of the Colossus
Life is Strange (2015). while it's not perfect, many who played it go on looking for other episodic story-based adventure games that draw them in with such memorable characters, impactful choices, music, atmosphere, and just the immersive nostalgic *feeling* of playing... and find that others in the genre can't fill the void it left (including others in the series).
It's financially brilliant adding your extra ad to go with the regular ones you decided not to remove. Time is money, and you're getting both of everybody's, amazingly easy. Congrats to you. 🍺
While I dont hate Resident Evil 4 it's the game that definitely ruined the genre and series. It clearly marks the death of the survival horror series and the birth of the over the top shoot-um up muscle bound action garbage that came out after. I understand they couldn't ride the zombie train forever but RE4 and everything after strayed so far from what made the first games so enjoyable for me that I really feel they should have been rebranded and launched as their own stand alone series. Just seems a shame to call anything after 3 a "Resident Evil" game.
Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
I was really expecting Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It raised the bar of any sword fighting game to a level in a realistic way that no other games could reproduce now.

Love how people try to troll BP fans by saying that the hand-holding "world tour" mechanics of all other Burnout titles are actually superior to the ALL-IN-1 open world of Paradise.
Yeaaahhhh Witcher 3 was waaaay too low on this list. That game kicked the ass of a lot of games ahead of it
It's about the genres, it's an RPG so it ruined it's genre
The problem with GTA Online is that it isn't actually fun. While my friends and I do have fun just screwing around with the physics engine, launching cars and whatnot, the rest of the online mode is just a lifestyle management simulator. We all ended up quitting because it was just about keeping our businesses running and trying to out-troll professional trolls. In fact, the online experience has so tarnished what I think of GTA that I'm going to wait a few months after 6 comes out before deciding whether or not to buy. I pick up GTA titles for the single-player experience and I want to KNOW ahead of time that that was the focus of the development team.
Batman: Arkham City for superhero games.

The fact that you used Gta 5 for a thumbnail for this video but not putting it as No 1 makes me crazy
But if you put the #1 in the thumbnail that kinda spoils it

No Zelda, no World of Warcraft, no Dark Souls?
I''ll agree on WoW, as it's pretty much the king of the mmo-mountain (or mmountain) for a reason, but if anything, Dark Souls spawned a genre (or sub-genre), not killed it. With Zelda it depends on which one you mean.

I have to say this list is BS. He doesn't even mention a game that was so epic it created it's own genre " Dark souls"
Dark Souls created its own genre but it does not ruin any genre as it does appeal to mass gamers beause of its lore, atmosphere, deep meaning and difficulty where as games like GTA are simply fun, relatable and massive open world with interacting elements.
I don't understand how your post is a relevant reply to mine? I don't get what you are trying to say?
justin christy he’s saying that the dark souls clones aren’t as bad as GTA clones or Halo clones, so dark souls can’t really count
Or that may be inferring something that isn't there, on my part - either way, I can see why it didn't make the list : )

Awesome as always, I actually just found these guys and went through most of the catalog of videos.
If you guys were to do a fan pick edition I would recommend Demon's Souls/Dark Souls (a given really), Pokemon Colosseum, it was a vastly different take on the traditional formula and gave you 3 different modes that me and my friends spent hours on, or even Overlord 2, it was a traditional RPG but never took itself seriously, even when you accidentally got your best minions killed the game was like "Alright, you accidentally ran him over...a little spit and he's good as new"
World of Warcraft for MMORPGs... that game was like a drug back in 2004, and has been the gold standard until it just now has been killed by.. itself.
Only to revive itself again with Classic a couple of weeks ago. No other MMO, save for maybe Guild Wars, has really managed to get a viable market share. WoW made MMOs mainstream, and simultaneously killed any chance imitators might have.
i'm surprised they didn't put it in this list
Freespace 2 was quite possibly the definitive game of the space sim genre, but the genre more or less disappeared afterwards and we never got a Freespace 3 even though Freespace 2 left SO MUCH potential for storytelling within that universe.
Not the Reason GTA 5 killed its Genre. Take 2 Sues everybody that tries to get into that genre.
MadShadow because not sure why, but everyone tries to copy Grand Theft Auto. Even Saints Row

God of War 2019 has ruined all games for me.
For me it is Witcher 3
Phantasy Star Online: Episodes 1 & 2
This game was the first console MMORPG and helped establish MMOs on consoles during the Gamecube/Xbox/PS2 era before online consoles became a thing.
Kingdom Hearts: "You can't have an action adventure RPG" "hold my beer"
Legacy of Kain Series: "Who likes story, lore, dialogue, and very good combat?"
Yeah Red Dead 2, Spider-Man, God of War, Uncharted 4, Persona 5 and Sekiro all did that for me. No other game has come close for me. If you can’t tell I’m a rather new gamer. Only a few years

Yo, Blacklist wasn't imitator. Splinter Cell might be in the stealth genre, but MGS and SC are drastically different.
"going from [Witcher 3] to almost anything else makes them feel shallow" while showing a picture of Skyrim
Skyrim is the best game of all time and I will stand by that.

Missing from this list:
World of Warcraft
Warcraft 3
Hearthstone
(No I do not WORK for Blizzard I am just addicted to their amazing games lol)
@sloppy poop why what? Why should these games be on the list or why am I addicted to Blizzard games?
The answer to the first is that each of these games destroyed all other competition in their genre to the point that no one else can compete (Kind of the point of the list if you watched the video.)
World of Warcraft, Outside of Final Fantasy no one has even been able to maintain a subscription model for more than 6 months to a year, and even they are light years behind Warcraft's numbers there.
Well looks like you are a man of culture as well.
WoW didn't really ruin a genre though. There are loads of successful WoW clones - SWTOR for example

Why the Batman Arkham series is not on this list for changing the Super hero video games forever and set a standard?
Yup. I've lost count of the games that've tried to ape Arkham's combat mechanics since it's release.
I would say that Gears 2 was the pinnacle of third person shooters for me. A little surprised Hale CE/Halo 2 wasn’t on the list either. Great video!
