As the Rabbi himself has said (in interview, when speaking of Gentiles), "I know this is going to 'sound wrong'..." but I must toss one "monkey wrench" of Christianity into these studies from the Jewish perspective, which may help some who are confused about the various descriptions/personas/qualities of the prophesied Messiah, for those who may have an open mind and use the concept wisely. It is the Christian concept of "G_D" as "The Holy Trinity". For me, as a Gentile, it fills in some of the gaps being raised in question and disbelief here by "the more Orthodox Jews". I hope this may help some, rather than further "alienate" new students, as it comes here from "the other direction".
Ahavat can you recommend some good books for me to read to better understand this subject matter. I am fascinated about what you talk about but a lot of it goes over my head. Thanks.
