Honestly, this is part of why I believe visual shouldn't even be a position in a Kpop group. A lot of people, especially the fans, have a tendency to hyper-fixate on idols' appearances and some even criticize idols for their appearance, but in doing so they kind of don't realize just how much work goes into what they do. Hours of recording (and then re-recording) the digital versions of their songs to get the best sound possible followed by probably even more hours of practicing the choreo so they can spend hours performing the same choreo over and over again, and that must be absolutely exhausting and they kinda have to suppress this in the presence of their fans because their fans are there to watch the group perform and how they're feeling at that moment isn't relevant in that setting. Their appearance is completely arbitrary to all of this.

^ lmao you're delusional if you think rv are promoted well. this year, both of their promotion cycles were cut short and one of them was during chuseok week so it was even shorter, they had a grand total of 2 tv appearances and 2 fansigns during russian roulette promotions, russian roulette comeback was delayed by 3 months, no variety show (they're in their 3rd year since debut and no other sm group has taken more than a year to get one), no dance practices, apart from the past month they've been pretty much unemployed between promotion cycles, their physical albums are pretty ugly (2 jewel cases in a row are you serious?) how can you expect their fandom to grow if no one can follow them? how do you expect high physical sales if their albums pale in comparison to competition? compare them to twice who have v lives every day, have their own reality shows, are on every fucking channel on tv, and their albums are gorgeous and have lots of extra things in them. how can rv compete against a group that never leaves the public eye? also compare them to nct who have a well packaged album, their own reality show, dance practices etc. sm is promoting them badly it's literally undeniable

But this, just like "Automatic", is really their bread and butter, and what separates them from other girl groups.

They weren't going to jeopardize what the girls would be doing choreography-wise if they knew Yeri's addition would dilute the possibilities of more daring visuals. Besides, she doesn't have to show skin or grind to be erotic or sensual. She was already in "Automatic" and that visual is more than PG enough for her age. Plus, I doubt SM would push Red Velvet to do moves and visuals like what you'd see from AOA (Miniskirt), Girl's Day (Something) or Stellar (Marionette).

One just had much more dance choreography to it, the other defined more by single shots and emotion. If anything, "Automatic" had a much better setting and rhythm to better allow the girls to exhibit their sensual side. Since the girl groups from SM have been defined by their styling lately, I can imagine Red Velvet's next grooving MV to feature the girls in boudoir look. Yeri can be in lingerie without moving or dancing as a visual and it'll still work, both for their MV concept and her age. the choreography is boring. the difficulty level of the dance is another thing, i'm not a dancer so i can't tell you. but like some people say it's typical sm to put out something mediocre these days. the song is just meh in my opinion. these two girls' talent is not really the issue, it could have been anyone else since it doesn't seem unique to them- and that is why sm is just playing safe.

Why do people keep on questioning whether Seulgi or Irene is the best dancer? The way I see it, they have different styles. Seulgi's style is sharp and sweg, while Irene's is elegant and fluid. For me, they're both main dancers. They're equally good. They complement each other. Just look at their chemistry. Exactly! Look at that choreography. SM has the potential to give SNSD and F(x) better moves. When it comes to their Girl Groups SM really knows how to lack and half ass their dances. In my opinion F(x) has always had terrible choreography that's just plain boring. When they first debuted it was new and fun, but they stuck with it and as time went on it became almost lazy like. When it comes to Kpop, I'm mostly casual about following certain groups, and I like some idols more than others, but Seulgi is the ONLY one whom I ABSOLUTELY love and make it a point to follow. I love how she's beautiful in both a traditional and non-mainstream way, love her clear, pretty singing voice, her personality, the way she smiles, the way she dances- all of it! They weren't going to jeopardize what the girls would be doing choreography-wise if they knew Yeri's addition would dilute the possibilities of more daring visuals. Besides, she doesn't have to show skin or grind to be erotic or sensual. She was already in "Automatic" and that visual is more than PG enough for her age. Plus, I doubt SM would push Red Velvet to do moves and visuals like what you'd see from AOA (Miniskirt), Girl's Day (Something) or Stellar (Marionette).

One just had much more dance choreography to it, the other defined more by single shots and emotion. If anything, "Automatic" had a much better setting and rhythm to better allow the girls to exhibit their sensual side. Since the girl groups from SM have been defined by their styling lately, I can imagine Red Velvet's next grooving MV to feature the girls in boudoir look. Yeri can be in lingerie without moving or dancing as a visual and it'll still work, both for their MV concept and her age. Why do people keep on questioning whether Seulgi or Irene is the best dancer? The way I see it, they have different styles. Seulgi's style is sharp and sweg, while Irene's is elegant and fluid. Exactly! Look at that choreography. SM has the potential to give SNSD and F(x) better moves. When it comes to their Girl Groups SM really knows how to lack and half ass their dances. In my opinion F(x) has always had terrible choreography that's just plain boring. When they first debuted it was new and fun, but they stuck with it and as time went on it became almost lazy like. SNSD also lacks in that department. Most of their choreography is focused on easy, public friendly moves with a easy to follow main point. I feel like SM has slacked with them as well.

When it comes to Kpop, I'm mostly casual about following certain groups, and I like some idols more than others, but Seulgi is the ONLY one whom I ABSOLUTELY love and make it a point to follow. I love how she's beautiful in both a traditional and non-mainstream way, love her clear, pretty singing voice, her personality, the way she smiles, the way she dances- all of it! I hope she gets a solo at some point because she definitely has what it takes to pull it off.
