    Landed 6 coho in 1 hour on favorite Oregon coast stream on a gold steelee. Used them for over 30 years and caught more coho on this one spoon than any other I've used.

      @RobertHughes-jc3lg I don't know what a gold steelee is, but there are many spoons that can be effective at catching coho. Spoons are Highly effective at catching coho. Little over a week ago went out one morning using a spoon and caught 4 hatch and 3 wild in about 45 minutes. Was a quick limit morning. Pretty exciting spoon fishing.

    Good video on coho hunting with the spoon. I did that a lot too at the canal. I drop the rod tip more to get down. One day last season in November, I lucked out with 7 coho hookups. It doesn’t happen too often late season but when crowds are down, with fresh fish just coming up unspooked, it is possible to have multiple hookups.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah 7 fish is a great day! Love the multiple hook up days for sure. Yeah you are right you can control the depth by how high off the water your rod tip is.

      Yeah thats a great day. You're right that controlling the depth can be achieved with the placement of the rod tip up or down.

    9:15 to 10:40 is the ONE thing I wish people would register no matter what their level of experience is with fishing. This applies to most type of fishing techniques. I am more of a fly fishier these days but man the "anchored" mentality is the biggest problem I see from anglers.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures

      Do you mean a swivel and snap? I don't use those since when you snag it's just more gear lost. I tie hooks almost as fast as you can change one out with a snap. So I just tie. I have no comparison on effectiveness between the two methods.

      @@brandondaniel6253 If you are catching Chum the coho usually don't hang out with the chum. So you will have to move if you are catching lots of chum or fish a different part of the run. Look for coho splashes on the surface which are usually little splashes or tail flicks. That will alert you to where they are sitting.

    Which ugly stik are you using? I use the elite 8'6 medium 8-14lb line. A bit bulky of a rod with the long handle, but gets the job done if I hook into a spring. And of course with my favorite reel, the pflueger president with 30lb braid. One day you shpuld go over your gear you like using for freshwater salmon.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  2 месяца назад +1

      @Pray4Mojo1 OK, yes I was using a Fenwick till it broke. Then I also switched to the same ugly stick as you have. You're right it is a bit clumsy compared to my Fenwick but it will handle anything and not break so I like it! I never did a gear review as I just use whatever is on sale haha but I can.

    cool, an 11 minute ad for a fishing lure. Seems like Rod Hsu is influencing everyone. Even "doctors" lol.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  11 месяцев назад +2

      Haha... actually you're incorrect though. Rod followed me. My RUclips account opened Jan19th, 2006. Rod didn't get started till March 2nd, 2006. I'm not sure how you explain how to fish with a spoon without talking at all about the spoon you are using??? I hope a few flossers switch to using spoons. Maybe even a new angler will catch a coho after watching this.
      How come "doctors" is in quotations? You don't think doctors fish? Or doctors shouldn't need help or teach other people how to fish? Or in your head you actually believe that I'm getting paid to make this video for an "advertisement"?
      When I first got into river fishing after moving to BC I absolutely learned everything I needed to know to catch a salmon from watching and talking to, Rod Hsu. I've always made instructional type fishing videos. Even since before I even knew about Rod way back in the AB days.
      Now a days we even get out fishing together. Small world.
      Thanks for watching, take it easy. Being so critical is not great for your health.

      "How to fish with PRIME LURES spoons". That's your first line and in CAPS. huh? No need to mention that brand since it's a spoon and you fish spoons the same way regardless of brand. You know that right? It's like stethoscope. Doesn't matter if it's a Littmann or ADC. @@TheFishingDoctorsAdventures

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  11 месяцев назад +2

      @@JJ-gm4ck You said the video was an 11 minute Advertisement. Now you're talking about the description. Nobody reads that anyways. FYI: The first line in a description is used for RUclips Search terms. So it's more of a #tag line of words strung together used to help people find the video. That's what I think about when writing the first sentence of a description. You're entitled to your opinion. It's bizarre that you take so much personal concern about how I produce videos and chose to do write ups. What benefit do you get out of this? Tell me your goal. Are you trying to give me feedback. Do you have a suggestion of how to make it better? Something you'd like to see?
      Why do you have an issue with me stating a brand of a lure? You make lures yourself? Feeling left out?
      I think a spoon is not a spoon. Just like a Stethoscope is not a stethoscope. Like what is an ADC? I've never even heard of that. Is there a doctor who doesn't use a Littmann? Never seen anyone with an ADC FYI. That's why brand is important because not all spoons will do the same thing.
      I think you got me wrong there. This is a full time hobby for me, I don't make a living off this. Rod actually has a career as an influencer. If I find a lure, or piece of fishing equipment that I like or use, I'm going to tell people about it.
      If you don't like me sharing what I use that is up to you. It's how I operate.
      I know it blows peoples minds to think that I just enjoy making these videos and helping other people out, fishermen, and creators of fishing gear. It feels good to take something that I just do for fun and turn it into something that helps other people learn to fish and maybe even develop a small business.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  3 месяца назад

      @captainron9136 kind of have to be out there during the day and you will see it back up the river. That helps you guess when it will happen. Depends what tide chart you use. I still haven't figured it out for sure.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  3 месяца назад

      @captainron9136 yeah I believe that's what people try to do. But depending on what tide location changes how much time to add. That's why even though people say they know at a certain time it will happen... I'm not sure it's that accurate. Best thing to do is be there one day at high tide and fish it... then watch the water and make up your own estimate. I just go when it's high tide and wait for the fish.

      @@TheFishingDoctorsAdventures Yup, that part I can see, haha, but in the video you keep saying "this is why I come to the canal". I'm new to fishing and was on the Vedder yesterday, I'm on my 7th trip and haven't even had a nibble. I'm now asking other anglers and reaching out to people online trying to avoid frustration. I'm using prime lures and have the same set up a lot of people are using. I keep thinking I need to find a better spot, or the fish just aren't there? Thanks for the reply, regardless.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  2 месяца назад +2

      @monstermash7487 when you say 7th trip, do you mean 7 trips this year? Part of the reason that you have not had a nibble if that is the case is because you are not yet fishing the prime run time. There just are not very many fish around. In the next one to two weeks it is really going to take off with thousands of fish entering the system daily. This run stays pretty steady through the last week of September all the way through the middle of November. If you don't recognize the location of the spot in the Video then I'd also advise you to spend a day walking along the river and leaning the different areas and what they look like. The "canal" is the location I was fishing in this video. But it's not always a good place to fish. Fish tend to come in and move through the canal. They slow down once they hit the meandering River. You'll get them, just have to wait till they actually show up.
