- Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard by Thomas Gray-Part 3 -NET SET | British Literature | Heena
This is the third and last part of Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard, the very famous poem by Thomas Gray. This video covers the explanation of stanzas 24-32. This poem was published in the year 1751. It is a meditation on death and remembrance after death. Gray's personal life was painful. People close to him died painfully, and alone. So, he understood the feeling of loss personally.
Memento Mori or inevitability of death is the major theme of this poem.
