Mashiba will surprise everyone this match by acting like a complete professional the entire time. He'll dominate Rosario, who will then resort to fouling, but Mashiba will find a way to beat that too. And he won't even get angry, or feel the need to foul back. The spar with Ippo has prepared him for everything Rosario could throw back him, and IMO Mashiba will either show, or say outright, that sparring with Ippo was more difficult than fighting Rosario (who isn't weak by any means). This match will showcase four things. 1) Old Mashiba is gone. His past no longer has any pull on him. 2) Ippo is more than ready to take on the world (and Mashiba could possibly tell him that himself). 3) So far, we've seen short moments of Mashiba inwardly showing his gratitude to the people supporting him. After this, he will be comfortable enough to relay that gratitude out loud. And at the center of that gratitude will be Ippo himself (a guy who basically kickstarted his journey to redemption by defeating him at his own game - the drive to win). 4) A major development in Ippo-Kumi relationship. Since this match feels like the final chapter in Mashiba's arc, and since the 2nd half of their spar was basically a quarrel between brother-in-laws, I believe that it will be Mashiba himself who calls them out, yelling at Ippo to 'marry her already, that she'll grow old at this rate', or something along those lines. This acceptance and appreciation of Ippo will be cathartic to us readers, while still in line with Mashiba's personality (he's basically a murderous tsundere right now). Just my predictions, based on what happened in the recent chapters.
I agree on every single point. Very well written. It’s masterful how many things this fight addresses at the same time. Every event is a catalyst for another specific event.
i feel like rosario might have some development this fight and become a better person. cuz think about it rosario is just like old mashiba and rosario thinks mashiba has it “easy” so maybe during the fight rosario will realize a thing or two about mashiba’s past and try not to cheat. If it goes down like that, ill be happy with rosario winning cuz if he wins with how he is rn, wont be that nice tbh. but overall i still hope mashiba wins
I agree. We will definitely see a flashback to when he was in prison and how he was betrayed by his organization. I think deep down he’s a true boxer. Just a bit unpredictable😂

He hasnt started using his squared up stance yet and hes still keeping up with rosie
Correct, he’ll minimize the attacks from the outside when he’s standing squared up. And “Rosie” is wild! 😂
