This idea came to me while sitting on my porcelain throne. I’m so glad to see someone did it as well! I have a pretty big pile of scrap I’ve been wanting to burn. However, I have it near a lake. I was thinking of running a water pump to pull from the lake and completely saturate around the pile of scrap. Plus to have it to ensure nothing gets out of hand. I’m going to have to give this a try. Appreciate you brother!
good information. im trying to put something together quick, i have a bad feeling about the rest of fire season in Nor Cal. This is all you need to save your house thank you for sharing
Dude! Excellent! Answered most of my questions!!! So pleased that relatively inexpensive HF pump will send water that far!!! The 212cc Predator engine translates to 6.5 HP. The 91 feet of head translates to about 40 PSI. That combination seems to do a great job of hosing down your truck, your house, and maybe the neighbor's house also, depending on the application.
Now imagine putting a higher lift camshaft, slide carb, pod filter, and a dirt bike silencer, you could bring that pump section to it's limit, fortunately the pump section is water cooled.
He put a pipe thread to National Hose adapter on there. They make them that I know or from 3/4 inch to 3 inch and probably bigger. Maybe somewhere like Kellogg supply or maybe your local for plumbing company should have them since a lot of places are changing codes for new developments to have their own water supply for fire depts to connect too. If not try a fire sept supply store they have them for sure but the cost will be way more because it’s “fire” rated and essentially the same thing.
That's a neat pump setup but not very portable I have a fire skid unit from 74 with the original berkely pump I can run more pressure then that on idle if I rev it up I would be pushing about 400 psi.
Hello. I'd like to know of they had recurculators then. If remember? 74, required someone to throttle and monitor or of lower Nozzle GPH suddenly, or shut? Guaranteed hose burst. Will you elaborate on your beautiful pump skid?
May I? Wait till is winds 60 - 90 mph. Then see how far the stream goes. Waist of water. A water tank on a trailer with a pressure washer and the stream nozzle? = good grass fire management. Vegetation not so much. Put manifold and run ×3 long garden hoses. If your house is fully engulfed? Help the neighbors who aren't.
I find that comment comical sorry. During those kinds of winds In particular is when us firefighters usually don’t go direct with hose lines at fire fronts with just hose lines. We tend to back burn away from structures where possible use dozer lines or hand cut lines and firefighting aircraft and put out the smaller back fires near homes which needs to be done a certain way or you make a bigger problem. A 60-90 mph head wind pushing a fire front right at you isn’t the place to ever be with any fire hose lol. You sounded a little naive to me. In the open areas we don’t even go direct with hose lines to put the fire out as it would be impossible to keep up. They end up being put in later if at all depending on the topography and fire conditions. No fire engine hose line is gonna be effective against 90 mph winds, period, let alone a combination nozzle like he had. Not even the city engines 2.5 lines with a straight bore nozzle can do that nor a deck gun mounted on an engine! lol. Not to mention that it would drain their engines tank in a few minutes literally without a static water source , (they’d have to be connected to) which isn’t good since they now can’t maneuver freely without disconnecting. You know the forest service and the largest wildland agency in the world who I work for use 1.5 inch hoses with a working a 90 gpm nozzle right for wildland fires right? Santa Anna winds average your wind speeds suggested yearly here in Ca and we don’t go head on with just hose lines much unless it’s the right type or fuel and sparse due to that reason lol. This guy’s setup if made portable with a tank and some way of being mobile could slow or stop a slow moving ground or grass fire or a room and contents fire , put his truck out if it caught fire, if he knows how to effectively extinguish it and catches it fast. When I was trained we had to put out a bedroom fire with a hand held water extinguisher in order to pass one of the many classes I took. The helicopter crews use 5 gallon back pumps and hand tools for grass and brush all the time. For what he paid and the likelihood of having a fire he now has a nice little tool and a little piece of mind for next to nothing cost wise. I was looking at this video because I was wondering how much this would flow and looks perfect for my area but then again I’m a wildland firefighter who has been trained and saved a LOT of homes in my career. Why you knocking him.? 30 year paid firefighter (captain ) of the largest fire dept in the US asking by the way.. best defense is to clear your property or continuous fuels and thin out stuff away from the home during the winter and spring prior to fire season. If done correctly that little pump would be adequate more than likely even for your precarious wind scenario.
% years later they selling this for $499.00 and you got it for $189 lol I have 7800 try built gen got it many years ago for 1400 and now they are like 2200. any ways I need some thing like this but F that 500
I bought this same pump at Harbor Freight last weekend for $259 and it wasn't on sale. With inflation though, I see the pump is now $269 just a few days later.
Jonny your video just made my day 4 years later! Thx man 👍

@@RwP223 Mines getting suped up.
Harbor Freight pumps are NPT (Pipe) thread, most fire hoses and nozzles are NH (Fire) thread.
Yes, I had to get an adapter
Crazy how much they raised prices of these. They are now $290 at Harbour freight
Yup,if you want one now get it now while the prices are where they are now
35% off this weekend. in store only. but I agree
lol. Is that on fire? oh well let me just put that out.. lol
awesome setup. gotta get it.
What specific adapter did you use to go from the 2" HFT hose male connector to the 2" female intake on the NPSH nozzle? Thanks!

How long did it take to prime before the water came out?
did you purchase all materials from harbor freight?

What is it full pressure stream
Can i use this with a long hose
Like 200 feet long then the pump then another maybe 30 feet hose on the other hand
michael dev yes works great with 200ft hose and 30ft hose!! I have up to 600 ft of hose I use and works excellent
Johnny Creation
Whoaw man thats sounds like what im looking for
I just ordered This pump along with a few hoses that are 2in. M x F NPSM thread is this a problem?
the pump is NPT (national pipe thread). most nozzles are NH. That's why he used the adapter on the end.
This nozzle don't spread much even water, needs something better.Better nozzle.
I don't believe this kind of nozzle is good for a forest fire.they don't cover enough.
actually would work great. smooth bore is ideal for pre wetness and for knock down on large fires
Can you close or shut off nozzle with the pump still on?
Vape Cave / Shaman Labs , yes pump can still run while nozzle is off
I guess that will work but once you run a real fire pump these pumps are just a waste I run a older berkely fire pump it pushes 150 psi on idle.
May I?

Will shoot like 40 feet high on full blast

Heck of a piss stream
Weird.......dude......smoke another
I'm not impressed, any 30$ pump will draw water from a pool. Let me see that sucker draw h2o from a 25ft deep well.
Not save your house with that very little water
most house fires are put out with around 500 gallons of water my guess is that pool holds 4,000 something plenty enough water to put out a fire
