This game is going to fulfill me in a way I was hoping Mother 4 would’ve before it got rebranded.
Someone show this to Shigesato Itoi. If it gets his approval, then there’s now way Nintendo would take it down because he owns and control the Mother IP, not them.
I don't think he cares about fangames. Mother Cognitive Dissonance has been out for years and as far as I know, Itoi didn't took it down. But then again, this is a remake, not a completly different game with a different story.
not quite, MOTHER is co-owned 50/50 by itoi and nintendo. mother 4 rebranded to oddity during a wave of nintendo taking down fan projects in 2017, and if the company starts up again (as it has in the past) it's not out of character for them to take encore down
@eggsbox OG Mother 4's devs made a conscious decision to rebrand into Oddity, but Itoi supports fan projects, and he owns the IP. It's fine, mate.

Damn, the Starman battle theme is fucking fire, love it uses the melody from Eartbound's creepy intro screen.
1:40:34 Oh God, upon hearing the opening, my fight or flight instincts kicked in. This has the vibe of badass boss music and yet it's used on normal enemies. Even though there isn't a choir, it FEELS like there could be.
And the alarm before the fight ended... oh sweet mother of PORK!
Dude the game is pretty rockin, but the soundtrack... it makes me tear with joy. I really hope they finish this, and maybe upload the OST, it's so amazing!
This looks so good, the attack animations, soundtrack, updated art style, it’s all incredible.
Hey! I have a recommendation for your looping music! You should wrap the tail of your song to the beginning of the song when it loops. The effects and such of the instruments seem to cut abrubtly, but if you export your song, cut in the usual place and put the cut remaining tail back at the beginning it will make a more convincing loop! I hope that all makes sense :)

Wow this is incredible, I used to get lost a lot when I played Mother.
Projects as promising as this almost never finish, but I'm excited to see where this goes.

@@h5ypr I don't quite understand what you mean. It was meant to be difficult. You are supposed to die a few times. That's why you get a death count at the end. Unless you meant something other than the damage calculation.

Beautiful demo so far. Can’t wait to try this mother 3-efied mother 1 fangame. I forget sometimes that the boss encounter for m2 and 3 is the normal encounter for this game.

That would be a LOT of work, and work takes time. There might be a trilogy in a few years, but these are pretty big games, so maybe a decade to finish.

Shigesato Itoi owns the IP and rights to anything Mother-related, so this project is safe.
@@NebulaMXC The Mother series is a co-ownership. This is easily fact checked by viewing the copyright visible on all official Mother related merch. Even the simple use of logos contains the shared Shigesato Itoi/Nintendo copyright.

I liked the game, it's cool, but I guess they should nerf the healing or the spawn or healing objects because it makes the game pretty easy if I say.

I think it would be be better though if America was changed to Eagleland to better fit with Earthbound. Also maybe change 1988 to 198X due to that retcon in the description of Earthbound Beginnings.
Let's see what happens when the full game is released. I cannot wait!
Keeping it as America on the other hand, keeps it faithful to the game this remake is entirely based on. If anything, we should probably complain about that inconsistency within the original trilogy itself.

I somehow encountered Ao oni while playing this and I have no idea how I triggered it.
Joke snuck in by a developer to fuck with his friends that accidentally made it into the demo, 1 in 1000 chance of triggering it each time you open a door

It got rebalanced making enemies tougher and smarter, Starman's Jr is the best example, he has way more HP and he can summon enemies. Now the stat boosting PSI are functional.
It might not seem much but the rebalancing makes the game incredibly more enjoyable.

Porting to the 3ds is surely outside the scope of their fan project. If it happens it would likely be done by another party and I can't see that happening anytime soon if at all. You are better off playing it on PC rather than holding out hope for some homebrewed 3DS port.

Apparently they can’t cancel any fan games without Mr Shigesato Itoi permission
Although Nintendo own the mother 123 the franchise itself owned by itoi
And they can’t cancel games that dose not directly without a permission from Mr itoi first and Mr itoi apparently have no problem with fan games and projects

Mother fangames normaly don't get taken down, Mother Cognitive Dissonance for example, it's in the air for years.

@@endoskel9262 There is always a risk of takedown but the likelihood of a Mother fan project in particular being struck down at this point is so unlikely it might as well be 0. Nintendo has allowed Mother fan content to exist for decades now with no issue. It's not a premier franchise for them and benefits them in no way to target the community.
