The debris you are encountering is normal, the Conowingo Dam opens up quite often & spills lots of debris into the Chesapeake Bay. The Dam is a spill off from MD, PA & NY! Also, that thunder sound you are hearing is the Aberdeen Proving grounds who tests heavy artillery. It is typical for that area.
It's actually good you experienced a rough day on the Chesapeake Bay so you could experience the "full spectrum" of boating there. It IS glorious when the bay is calm!
We definitely got the full spectrum. But that awful day made us appreciate the beautiful ones we had after that. And it also made us do more research on the weather LOL
Hey yall truly look forward to seeing you're videos doing the week and on Saturday morning. It's now a VERY IMPORTANT PART TO MY WEEKEND! Anyway love the videos. Thanks for sharing it!!
YOU JUST MADE OUR DAY! What an incredibly sweet thing to say. Thank you!!! Glad we can give you a little entertainment, and little laughter and hopefully a little inspiration too as you go about your weekend. Hope you had a great one! See you again on Friday (hopefully).
Agreed with what others said. You were likely passing APG. I grew up nearby in Havre de Grace (I love my hometown… you should dock and check it out sometime!) and we would hear/feel those “booms” ALL the time. Also pretty sure they recently opened up all the gates of the Conowingo Dam (a few miles up the Susquehanna, before it dumps into the bay) which was probably the cause of the debris. Wishing you safe and happy continued travels!
We heard that Harve de Grace is wonderful we just didn't have time for a visit. It is on our list for the next time we are in the area and have more time. Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a kind comment :).
I had never heard of warping a boat - great info! Even though we’re in Lake Michigan, where we don’t have to obsess much about tides and currents, there are certainly cases where wind and current could carry the boat away while docking and present some serious challenges, so I can see where that maneuver might come in handy someday. Thanks for the intel! And, oh yeah - the bunnies. 🐇 Neat nature trail - looked like an episode of “Little House on the Prairie” with the kids frolicking in the meadow.
It was TOTALLY an episode of Little House on the Prairie. We just needed one of them to fall while running thru the meadow LOL (and perhaps don a bonnet)
I seen Sea Shine coming down the Tombigbee waterway! Y’all were coming underneath the bridge in Fulton,MS. That’s been a couple years back now huh? I’m a mail carrier! I do two days from Bham,AL. USPS Anex to Atlanta RPDC, then two day from Bham to Memphis postal NDC.
Aberdeen Proving Grounds. that's most likely what you're hearing booms from. It's also possibly something from Martin State Airport. Home of the A-10 Warthog.
Good move not to head to Cape May for a few days. The Delaware Bay can get very nasty, quick. I used to fish out of Port Norris, NJ in the 70's, retired now down in Florida.
We’ve heard it can get crazy out there. And if you saw our previous episodes, you know our crew doesn’t do well in rough water 🤣. Enjoy your retirement down in Florida. That sounds lovely!
Totally! Just googled it... The new proving ground at Aberdeen would be used for proof-testing field artillery weapons, ammunition, trench mortars, air defense guns and railway artillery.
@@TheBoomershines My dad and grandfather were fishing near Pooles Island back in the 1950's. One of the grounds patrol boats told them the needed to move. My grandfather asked why. The patrol boat crew told him the planes overhead were about to start laying eggs!! My grandparents on my moms side used to live in Edgewood. You could tell when the base was testing, the house would rattle!!
I looked wonderful. I really wanted to stay there but we ended up needing to be in Delaware City with other loopers to stage for our trip down the Delaware. Guess we need to go back :)
😂Hey Cinda. Absolutely no Disrespect because she is AWESOME also but Is the RUclipsr Wonder Hussy your Sister? If not she could definitely be your Twin. GREAT Video again and LOVE FROM CRABBY DADDY HERE ON THE PATUXENT RIVER MARYLAND
By any chance do you remember the name of that restaurant in Delaware City? My sister lives close to Delaware City (she used to live along that wildlife preserve you hiked along)? I would love to go to that restaurant the next time I visit her to introduce my son to crabs. Their staff seemed great with kids!
I absolutely remember -- It was Kathy's Crab They were fantastic and the crab was great too. Hope you enjoy!!! (and thanks for watching :)) dineatkathys.com/
Not at all the case! He is the most amazing marina owner because he is so generous with his time and knowledge. He does the weather briefing every night for loopers because the weather in that area is so tricky to predict and understand. I wouldn't go down the Delaware River without first getting a thumbs up from him. It is a MUST STOP marina for Loopers.
Ahh, must have been going by the proving grounds at Aberdeen when you were hearing that "delicate sound of thunder" off in the distance.
Mystery solved!!! Thank you :)
Yes definitely Aberdeen. Sounds a lot like thunder, and you can feel vibration.
That was totally it!
Wow! This is the stretch of Bay that we boat and only about 1 out of 20 days will you get a smooth a ride as that! Beautiful day!
It was a beautiful day indeed!!! We totally lucked out. Thank you for sharing your beautiful part of the country with us :)

I needed a chill watch on RUclips today. Thanks guys you keep me motivated for a loop one day. Love the show! ✌️
Glad we can help :). Thanks for watching and for your fun comment!!!

Your in my backyard. Schaefer's on the CD canal is my favorite restaurant. Summit North marina is where I've kept and going to keep a boat again.
You have a GORGEOUS backyard!!! Thank you for sharing it with us. And thank you for the recommendations for our next trip to your area :)
You cant beat the staff at Chesapeake inn... probably clem or ryan that ran the packages out. Great guys love them
They were FANTASTIC and so kind. I really wish we would have been able to stay there. Next time for sure!
May Jesus Christ continue to bless you and your Family and Keep you Safe 🙏

@@jennifermay4227 I grew up on white Cristal beach.we also heard Aberdeen all the time.👍🙏♥️👣
So you found Aberdeen. My grandparents lived across the Bay from the Proving Grounds. Was definitely fun some weekends.
I bet that was entertaining for all! Especially since you knew what what making the sounds. Thanks for watching!
DEXAS..THAT WAS SPECIAL !!
LOL. That is a dyslexic kid for you. Sharp as a tack but spelling is a bit of a challenge.
Another great video, thank you.
So glad you enjoyed it! And thank YOU for the sweet comment and for joining our crazy adventure :)

We have the same wild bunnies here at our house. Brown with white tails. We put out carrots each night for them to eat, and each morning they are gone

Currents getting you ready for the Bahamas! LOL😃

There was lots of military activity all around us. It was interesting and intimidating all at the same time.
Must be aberdeen.heard that My entire life.grew up on white Cristal beach.👍🙏♥️🎃
Super cool area to grow up in!!!
Another great one! I'm curious what was the ratio of docking at marinas to anchoring overnight?
We mostly docked. We liked exploring towns, eating out and running the kiddos 🤣. We anchored out when there wasn’t a marina option.

You can starve to death eating blue crab! Lot of work for a little meat, but taste meat.
Lol. True but also great entertainment for an 8 year old.
OMG Delaware City.... WHAT are you teaching these people with "butter" im blue crabs !?!?!? Unexcusable to say the least!!!!!

Now we know! Our kiddos need to get used to Old Bay.
Toms river fort dix has provided many a weekend of artillery booms. And fort dix is approx 30miles away from my location.
The booms you were hearing are from the Aberdeen Proving Ground.
