  • I run a 13.985 1/4 mile with a 103.09 mph trap speed (best trap of the day for me was 103.59mph) in a JB4 only 2017 VW GTI. This was on the drag strip at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida during FixxFest, a big annual european car meet.
This run was done in Map 3 on the JB4. With the recent firmware, Map 3 is basically a more aggressive Map 2 and requires 93 octane. I had about 3/4 tank of gas and a toolbox + a bag of clothes in the back.
I used launch control and shifted manually ~5800-6000 rpms. Check out the shift light feature of the JB4 mobile app on my phone (mounted to the air vent to the left of the steering wheel).
If I don’t botch the launch in the future, I think a few more tenths could come off. I’m happy with the run and the improvement the JB4 gives the car. I ran a 14.6 stock at this same location with the OEM all season tires.
I’m currently working with George at Burger Tuning to dial in some Map 6 settings. Hoping to squeeze a bit more out of the car before more powertrain mods.
    Car:
2017 VW GTI SE DSG w/ Performance Pack 4dr
    Performance Mods:
    JB4 - Map 3
Firehawk Indy 500 tires w/ ~3,400 miles including two days of autocross.
    Noise makers:
    ECS Tuning DV Spacer
    Clubsport S Muffler
    Track:
    Bradenton Motorsports Park
    Bradenton, Florida
Temp was around 68F-70F or so
    Opponent:
    V8 Audi S5 w/ non-DSG auto
    He ran a ~14.2xx.

Happy to help! Email George at Burger Tuning about Map 6 settings. He’ll have you run some logs and give you settings to squeeze some more out of your car even if it’s stock (like mine).

Nice run man. Did the clubsport muffler make the dsg farts a bit louder?

Thank you, and yes, the Clubsport S muffler has made the DSG farts much more pronounced. Depending on gear, load, and shift point, it can range from just a louder burp to a full on cracking sound. But, it’s nice and OEM-quiet when when you need it to be. It’s gotten a bit louder and deeper over time as it’s broken in. Highly recommend if it will be the only exhaust modification. I’ve read that once you start pairing it with a downpipe, a new resonator may be needed to keep the volume and drone under control, but I can’t speak personally to that.

Awesome. I have the same car as you (stock) with a new JB4 I just installed. Haven't had a chance to take it to the track yet. Hoping to get a chance soon. Running Map 2 with 93 for now. Looks like this video was posted a while ago. What have you changed on your GTI since?

Just a revision or two with new settings from George at BMS after sending some logs with this setup. My fiancé has now ran a 13.702 (103.xx mph trap) with the new settings just mentioned, same tires in the video (except more worn), and a 1/4 tank of gas...in Florida summer heat. A different (slower ET) run trapped 104mph.

Nice run! How do you like the firehawk indy 500 tires? Been thinking about getting some. So far i have only ran 1/8 mile and best run is 8.7@ 87mph on all season Yokohamas.

For the price, I like them a lot. They are might and day better than the stock all seasons I had. I used to run Hankook Ventura’s V12s and Goodyear Sport Comp 2s (or something like that), and I think these definitely perform at that level at a more affordable price. I’m sure you get better performance from the higher tier street tires, but those come in at double the price. Firehawk Indy 500s are an easy recommendation for performance street tires on a budget.

What is the current firmware? Is it 8_8 or 8_5_1?
