The ambient noise is the biggest problem such as HVAC noise or street noise from outside. On location I always get the people there to get them to shut off the HVAC/Blower noise and you can get a low ambient noise floor. If I don't see a -80db noise floor in my software I stop and find out what is causing it. I also never use mics that have over a -15db noise floor and look for mics with under -10db. pf self-noise. I also don't like compression that is over used. I love music that sounds alive and real and if you have a low noise floor you have plenty of dynamic range, remember even 16 bit has 96db of dynamic range, if you are at -80db with ambient noise you still have plenty of head room.
I'd love to see a lewitt mic with a flatter midrange and a boost to just the treble. I lvoe the design and look of lewitt mics but the 4kHz bump coloration on all of them is not to my taste.
Maybe would be possible to remove the ambiance by making an impulse response of the microphone in that position with the source where your mouth will be then phase cancelling it in post?
Most of these tips are great, but holy cow, please oh please don't record vocals in the closet! While the clothing may help, the 4 walls a foot away from you will not, and no amount of clothing is going to fix that. I deal with tracks waaaay too often where people do this, and it's not a good time! Loved the rest of the video though
Closets!! The poor man’s iso booth 🤘🏽
Tune!!!!!
Cool guitar in the background 🤩 Also some nice tips!
That was a good touch at the end asking if we still remember tip 1, makes sure we commit this to memory.
That's exactly what we wanted to achieve! 😁
We need a Captain Planet for the audio world to teach our kids how to roll their cables and use acoustic treatment. "The power is yours!" 🦸

Thank you Maria ;)
How can this channel not have 100k Subs? 🥰
Yeah what's with that?? 🤣
Thanks for the helpful tipps!!
Maria still perfect! :D And it is not a trap ;) This clip it's a great reference for beginners, thanks! :)
Thanks Maria.
Glad I could help! 😊😊
BRAVO!!! 👏 👏 👏
Great video! Thanks!
Where do you get those honeycomb tiles, soundproofing you have there? Looks fabulous!
These were custom made for our studio! But GIK sells pretty similar hexagon panels
@@LEWITT-audio Danke sehr, thank you! Is the studio in Vienna perhaps? Do you hire at the moment? ˘J˘
Yes, it is in Vienna. We don't book it out though 🙁 It's just for internal use
@@LEWITT-audio Oh cool, i'm from/in Vienna too.
And i meant, if by any chance i could apply for a job at LEWITT. =)

Can you tell some budget mic options with under -10db self-noise please?

De nada!

That's a very interesting thought. Sounds like a topic for a longer discussion with our engineers 🤔
How do I remove annoying neighbors? I tried water but it made the noise worse.
Ooh that's a tough one. Have you tried vinegar and baking soda?
move yourself to the mountains lol
Be careful not to eliminate all reflections and air around your microphone. It can sound sterile.
A good reflection ain't bad! 😅
most importantly, don't remove the singer. :P
Indeed !

While i never heard a vocal recorded in a closet, at least i don't think so, i also thought, that is terrible advice, but hey, who am i?
0:36 ...and your chair.
YES! We need to get a new one that isn't so squeaky 😂
@@LEWITT-audio I honestly thought you would reference it in the video since it was so obvious (to me at least) :D :D
