      Talk with neighbors when you got recordings to do, some are actually nicer than one think and might respect to not run machines while you must record, and might even wanna hear your end result one day, build your fan base close to you! 😂❤ who knows who listens in our homes 🤔☺️☝🏼😀
      Just got the Lewitt LCT 540 S and all this recording stuff is totally new to me 😅 do you teach home recording, would be great with an online workshop! ❤

    I needed this last week, for my second voice acting job will definitely be better. I don’t have acoustic treatment but I hung a heavy blanket over my work area to help with reflections. I also need to get a pop filter, not just for plosives but also for being the right distance from the mic.
    I’m a bit dyslexic so reading aloud with proper emotion or inflection is difficult. I ended up doing a sentence or two at a time.
    I like to record early in the morning when my voice is extra deep and full.

    Would you be so kind to make a quick note of your vocal chain you typically use on your vocal bus please?
    Vocal tips from Warren Huart that I really like : Neve style Mic PRE 1073 into a DBX comrpessor at 3:1 ratio into a 1176 at 20:1 used as a limiter. Very powerful. But there are so many tricks for vocals, tha't's insane...

    Are there any vocal booths that you believe are the best choices for a beginner home studio for both singing and voice acting?

      Yeah it sounds like a portable iso booth could be helpful for at least several freestanding acoustic baffles. I don't have specific recommendations on this kind of product beyond the well known acoustic treatment companies--Auralex, GIK, Primacoustic

    Tip 1: make sure to place the back of your mic (if cardioid) facing wherever you get the most background noise in your room/house/studio.
    Tip 2: If* possible try out more than 1 mic to see what benefits your voice the most. Everyone has a different voice type and just because your “heroes” sound good on a specific mic, it does not mean it will flatter your voice. I would suggest to get 2-3, keep the one you like and then send back the others.

    Great tips. Not sure I agree with limiting to 4 takes. I usually have at least double of that personally. Sometimes it takes a second to get into the mode of performing with headphones and takes 8-10 after often better than takes 3-4 for me. But to each their own.

    • @LEWITT-audio

      True! It depends on how much you warmup beforehand as well. Lots of factors... so definitely a tip but not a rule. Thanks for watching!

    I find I like to use open-back headphones, with the DAW playback level low enough that bleed is not an issue. I then have none of my vocal in the headphones, as the open backs just let me hear my voice just fine without coming through the headphones.

      Interesting technique! Is that to avoid latency in monitoring? or just to hear your own voice more natural in the room?

    • @kjmusic2541
      @kjmusic2541 Год назад +1

      @@LEWITT-audio More the latter. I find I can pitch better that way. I never used to use this technique, but as my hearing has deteriorated, I just find it works better.

    Comprehensive and effective tips. I would focus on tip 3 first - acoustic treatment is key! Kaotica Eyeball at least for me it colored the sound of my voice wayyyy too much more than Reflection Filter Pro. Acoustic panels made into a portable booth is wayyy better!

      @@LEWITT-audio lewitt company brand should be on the back of the microphone, right?in 440pure?
      I had another question! How can I get a better vocal from the LCT 440 Pure? Most of the time, I feel that the sound I record is too digital and not so soft.I usually put the gain on sound card I have, Scarlett Solo, between 9 and 11 o'clock

    • @LEWITT-audio
      @LEWITT-audio  Год назад +1

      Oh got it. No, the logo is on the front of the LCT 440 PURE. It's a different design from our other mics. As I mention in the video, one thing you can do to get a better sound is experiment with mic placement first--proximity and angle of the mic. That will have a big effect on the tonal response from the microphone. If you are wanting a softer less "digital" sound then you probably want to also look at analog preamps that have a darker tone and saturation characteristics. Using a compressor can help to control the sound as well which can make it sound more pleasing right off the bat. Hope that helps!

    number one problem i hear with vocals from home studios is the vocalist is weak and flat, kills the song immediately no matter how well its mixed, find a real singer who can sing in tune and project their vocals
