I tried the exact same thing and the second white spirit came in contact with the paint, it dissolved and came off. i used the same paint and the same white spirit. they have to have treated the piece with a clear coat of some sort. his is completely misrepresented.
I used AK481 Polished Aluminum on top of black Gunze primer; then (the next dey) tried the Landing Gear Wash AK2029 with the cotton swab and turpentine to remove the excess. Aluminum stripped off completely to the primer, what's wrong? Even the wash itself has obviously eaten through the paint
a tipp if you us a toothpick as flow helper you will loos not a singel drop ! ;) a pro tipp. just hold the end of the thootpick on the jaar und pointing the end were it schould flow .
Can you use enamel paint thinner/cleaner to clean your airbrush after you used this paint? I bought you Xtreme metal polished aluminium 481. Thanks in advance.
I have used both of these products, TRUE METAL & XTREME METAL, just use the SHINE ENHANCER CLEAR COAT or even a Lacquer CLEAR GLOSS COAT to seal it and you shouldn't have any problems. The test they just performed here I tried on an old model part, and had the same results that I saw here so i don't know what was happening with some of the comments I read below. I suggest you contact AK Interactive for more information. I personally LOVE these products, and find the results they produce to be fantastic!
OK, so why does mine come off with masking and Tamiya thinner then? I have a test fuselage, thankfully I did before I sprayed my Airfix 1/48 Lightning: AK comes off - albeit lightly - with masking and it comes off when I lightly brushed X20A over it, right through to the black base. I've sprayed it at low pressure - with an Iwata Eclipse - over AK's own black base, yet I don't get anything like the results I've been seeing. I've spent a small fortune on various shades of metal; I really, really want these products to work. Yet I am not getting anything like the results I have been seeing. Can someone please explain why?
It could be that you got some of the bad batch that was released with the first wave of releases. But given that that was last year it's pretty unlikely. Contact AK directly about it as it sounds like the same issues Phil Flory had when he reviewed them the first time round.
Great looking paint but this is bullshit...I used odorless thinner which is less aggressive then mineral spirits and the paint came off after I tried to remove some of the wash from it ...so, please don't make a fools of us. But yea, the paint looks great, it obviously needs to be varnished before using any chemicals such mineral spirit
Great customer support. Vid is 4 yrs old and none of the posted issues have been adressed...

Yea ok, but they presented it that the resistamce is so great that you don't even have to varnish it...and that is not true!!!!!
impressiv.
How do I clean the airbrush after then?
+SetoFreakingKaiba Xtreme Cleaner or any acetone based thinner, hope this helped :-)
AK Interactive Official It helped very much, thank you!
+AK Interactive Official would IPA work to clean? Or window cleaner such as windex be better? Thanks

The frustrating part is that this product is virtually impossible to obtain in AUSTRALIA. very few people stock AK INTERACTIVE.
CombatCompany - aka Modfix my man - in Vic
Have used it with varying success...
You must not be looking hard enough
Cool product, but True Metal on the other hand... even weathering will eat through paint!

Mineral spirits won't affect any acrylic paint. So what's the big deal?
XTREME METAL is an ENAMEL
I call BS on other brand paints damaging the plastic
