  • This short video explains the types of data or data levels. The researcher needs to know the types of data measurement represented by the numbers being analyzed. There are four data types: nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio. The nominal data type is the Lowest level of data measurement and Can be used only for classification and identification. for instance, Employee id. or Demographic data. Second, ordinal data types are higher than nominal and Can be used to rank or order persons or objects or events. For example, Employee ranking based on their productivity or students ranking on exam scores. The third is the interval data type, the Next highest data level. The distance between consecutive numbers has meaning, and the data are always numerical. For instance, Fahrenheit temperature - can be ranked, and the amount of heat between consecutive numbers is the same. In interval-type data, a Zero point is not a natural or fixed zero point - zero is just another point on the scale and does not mean the absence of the phenomenon. Fourth is the ratio data type. It is the highest level of data measurement and has the Same property as interval but has absolute zero. For example, Height, Weight, and time. Thank you for watching.
