The song is not about war, it is about the love song for his hometown "Gondar". the producer himself was born and raised there. they tried to show the original cultural dance. no choreography or anything. even your favorite dancer in the clip has no training. his moves are his own. the clip shows that the public gathering like in weddings, religious holidays. the shoulder dance is called 'Eskista". most Ethiopian dances involves majorly the shoulder. It is not that tiresome but technical.
For me it shows the current situation they are in under the ethinic tribalist regime. He might talk about how loving Gondar is but implicitly he is trying to tell us 1. The living conditions - very vulnerable people 2. Blamed for just being an ethinic Amhara and Orthodox Christian. That is what I learned from the music. 2.
The instrument is called "Masinko". It is a traditional Ethiopian instrument, Ethiopian invention dated thousands of years back. Surprisingly, it has only one string but can make more than 90 sounds (music notes). The singer is known to celebrate organic cultural music voices and dances of the local people. this specific song is about Gondar and its culture from the local people themselves. you can find his other songs that he sings about other cultures. the beautiful thing about Ethiopia is that the cultural diversity with more than 80 languages of its own.
How can one string make so many sounds!! Oh wow. That’s amazing. And here I was thinking the only language was Amharic 😅 Thank you for your explanations. It helps me learn more 🙏🏾
Music is not just a music for Ethiopians-they use it for devine connection, moblizing people for war, a way of expressing your sorrows, happines and a lot more
It's a song about "Gondor" - a city in the Amhara region in Ethiopia..The artist is expressing his love for the city and explaining about the city! Thanks for reacting on this song bro! And keep it coming!
it is not a war song brother!!! you can consider as a tributary song for the village he has been grow called "GONDAR". and holding a gun in such festivals is a tradition for most ethiopian
This could any type of party. Wedding, public gatherings or religious festivals. But, the lyrics any old Ethiopian songs are everything is mixed. Religion, love, history, family, the land ( the mountain, river… etc)

There is an active genocide in Ethiopia and it is systematic that the world knows it but not noticeable like what we see in Gaza. The dark place with the people- already vulnerable tells a lot. Unimaginable things are happening against these lovely Amhara people. I beg all kind people to be a voice to the voiceless
