People talk shit on Big Mon, but he knew how to sit back and let others shine whilst he chopped rhythm, no ego. Gotta love him stepping back for Jesse to take a BRILIANT lead pick here!
Nice! Wonder what show this is from? Yeah, Jack Hicks on the 5 - one of the best! And, of course, Kenny on fiddle and Jesse with that crosspicking! GREAT trio with Bill, Jim & Jesse. And, man, guitar overload on this one: Jim McReynolds, James Monroe and Joe Stuart. Thought for a minute from a glace that it's Jack Cooke on bass, but don't think so. Anyway, a fine job on this number, esp. that second verse which you don't hear often.
I shall pray to my Lord and Savior to spare the 4 worthless souls who dared to vote thumbs down to this video. Maybe Jesus will forgive you, but I sure as hell ain't.
Although I love this video myself, that's absolute foolishness you're talking. People are allowed to have their opinions and tastes without you bringing blasphemy into something as trivial as a song. That's one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever seen on RUclips.
@@randalclarke5487 Clearly you didn't pick up on the sense of irony in my comment...this is the definition of irony Mr. Clarke: the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning. b : a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony. c : an ironic expression or utterance. In future I shall endeavor to be less "cerebral" in my commentary as to not confuse readers such as yourself....you DID make my night, though, especially the part where you say my comments were the "most ridiculous" you've ever seen...now do you GET IT?
That trio is higher than Mount Everest and smooth as a baby's rump.....outstanding!
The respect shown by jesse mcreynolds to kenny baker ...the master has entered to play..

It was from the Jim and Jesse tv show.
Yes, my lord he has that cross picking down so well!
His name is Jack Hicks he played with Bill for 2 years He now lives back in his home town of Ashland Ky. He played 10 years with Conway Twitty.
Jack Hicks was with Monroe in the early 70s when I saw them in Chatom, Alabama.
That crosspicking is HARD !...Great music...and, with Baker on a fiddle break.....
Jack Hicks is a national treasure. A very classy character.
Jim and Jesse helping out! great banjer picking. Mandolin to! Kenny Baker on the fiddle
What an All-Star lineup
Don't get any better.... Jim and Jesse with the Grandaddy... Bill Monroe............
A real family occasion - - BILL MONROE and son JAMES plus the McREYNOLDS BROTHERS (JIM and JESSE).
Pretty music
And it's our fifth president, James Monroe!
Great video !
The great Kenny Baker from Letcher County, Kentucky, makes fiddle playing look easy.
