Bro these local job aren't going to hire you. They know you aren't physically able to do the job. You have to do a lot more than drive. Its a physically demanding job. And no shade you don't look like you can physically unload and entire semi..
Never underestimate your opponent. You’ll be surprised how bad people wanna grind and work hard. Regardless of size. I worked out and worked with big dudes like him. Keep up same pace as me. I’m very athletic.
Man, screw these naysayers. You wanted to work hard for a certain company for prestige. You can do this job, don't listen to these punks trying to keep you down. They don't want to work and they don't want to see anyone out pace them. I'm sorry the job didn't work out for you. It was their loss to lose a dude that wanted to work hard and make decent pay. Its bullshit. But not in the way these other guys say. I saw your post because I want to learn about restaurants and start a food truck thingy..
They knew you were about to eat their food. They were scared thinking you were about to bring a battery powered grill to grill the meat inside the truck and eat it.
Unfortunately, a lot of local gigs will be VERY PICKY (yes, even food service that’ll “hire anybody”) when it comes to hiring OTR drivers wanting to transition to local. I’ve seen guys at my company literally BEG for a position, just to burn out in 3-6 months and end up back OTR. The average OTR job today is basically hitting a dock at a DC that is the size of a small town and just lay in the sleeper till the light turns green. Local, on the other hand can be VERY stressful, you end up working even longer hours than OTR and have to deal with stuff like backing into a business from the street just to deliver a box that could’ve easily fitted in the trunk of a Corolla. Sure, if you have a family, you absolutely want to be local even if it comes with a pay cut. I personally would get 2 jobs if every local gig in town was to disappear before I ever considered OTR.
Yo yo yo Geo I hope all is well with you bro, I'm really missing hanging with you on the lives I just tested on my pretrip my in cab and air brake test today. I passed all of them and tmrw I'm start my day of driving skills and maneuvers I'm moving right along bro easy peezy I'm sure I'll make it through lol. I also chose to go manual so I wouldn't have any restrictions lol. I hope to see you bro. Be safe out there bro and keep the faith. Have a wonderful and blessed day my friend
Worked as a Sysco driver for 18 years. Maybe it’s best, the job is hard and hours are long. You are a heavier individual but saw many guys loose weight while working there. The job is physically demanding but you need to be mentally tough also. Not easy coming in at 4 am and having 15 -20 stops without enough space to put your hand-truck in the trailer. Good luck
They probably had other interviews set up. If there was another person with experience who applied, they are most likely going to choose the one who has experience over the one who doesn’t.
Dude definitely lied to u. Sysco hires anyone. They hired me and I had no experience, straight out of school. And on the application it says you don’t need experience. So ur right big dawg. Tbh that job is too physical and they want u to go open and down stairs with like 200lbs. I fell down the stairs 3 times working there. F**k that job
bro they hired me fresh out of cdl school was there 2 years they put you through hell of work it can be extremely physical and leave you sore but paid good left after i got my tanker and hazmat honestly would never go back too much stress
@AndersonGund im sure they are still hiring guys come and go at that company its usually always busy including when school starts id check out their website for employment opportunity in your area tho just incase
All these people commenting on the guy's size....i can understand to a certain degree. But i have seen a good amount of bigger and older people than myself ( 34 , 5' 7", 220lbs) working for carriers like Old dominion, estes, dependable, big local carriers. And i ask myself "How....are they doing it??!! Respect!👏👏👏👏" Im a local pickup and delivery class a driver myself.
Yes makes no sense they seen your application and then did phone interview. Then once you show up they say you need experience. I would not of been happy.
If youve ever jumped on the back of the trailer to put up load locks, straps or had to deal with an OSD issue........you have "touch" freight experience. Thats how i see it anyway. 😂😂😂😂😂
But Bro you gotta do your research on jobs that you’re applying for. OTR is nothing like Distribution. It’s a back breaking job and it’s not like OTR that it’s basically no touch. C’mon man… u didn’t know that?!
Yo hey I forgot to tell you starting at the beginning of this year trans am stopped hiring straight out of school now they want at least 3 months of otr exp
Ngl bro they did you a favor. I work at Sysco and that shit is the worse company I ever worked for. I was otr before and I even use to b a selector at us foods. If you kool with working 14-16 physical hours a day b my guest. Routes don’t really pay a lot only reason we make good money is because of our hours. It’s other food service companies you can go to that’ll pay you more or the same but work you less hours and not as hard
@@HotOneRecordz yea I just started at GFS. Have 6 stops twice a week and 4 the other 2 days and make about $200 more a week then at Sysco’s. Sysco I use to have at least 14 stops a day. Sometimes over 20
@@reesiemula dayum... I just applied with sysco but I'm going to try GFS for sure now. I'm already local in Phoenix Arizona and the job is easy but I'm doing 14 hour days 6 days a week and take home pay is like $1200 after taxes. That's way too many hours for that kinda pay.
Bro they saw you and knew yiu couldn't do the job lol

Without the sugar coat, they saw you a big dude & immediately they knew you aren’t able to handle the job. It’s a physical demanding job
That’s exactly what it was. But that’s considered discrimination tbh
Yea cuz they saw the lack of touch freight experience on his application.

Considering how they treat their drivers, id probably do the same thing tbh.

Dang they hired me no cdl just box truck experience and offered to train me and get cdl gave me the job but im also 175 pounds and 22

It’s slower rite now. They did the same thing to my family friend who applied less than a month ago.

You can’t tie your shoes with out getting winded. Of course they showed you the door. It’s a physical job. Your health should be a priority not a job!
