  • Many countries have classified the safety level of laser products, among them, the United States according to ANSI Z136.1-2000 standard and 21CFR 1040.10 & 1040.11 standard, and the European Union according to 60825-1:2014 standard.
For the wavelength range of 500nm to 650nm, laser classes are generally categorized into four main groups. The following is a brief summary of these four classes of lasers.
Class I laser products typically do not expose the laser to air, these laser products are considered safe, do not pose a hazard to the eyes or skin, and are not considered hazardous.
Class II lasers do not cause permanent damage when exposed to the eye for a short period, and visual disturbances caused by laser exposure to the eye from these products can usually be eliminated by the body's self-protection mechanism (blinking).
The lower energy portion of Class III laser products is dangerous to the eye and direct annotation of the laser may cause brief visual disturbances, but usually does not cause permanent visual damage. The higher energy portion of the laser product is dangerous and can cause permanent visual damage when directly annotated.
Class IV laser products are highly hazardous, pose a serious risk to the eyes and skin, and can even cause fires.
When we buy laser tools we should check the safety level of the laser and choose relatively safe laser tools. Scientific and reasonable protection for ourselves and our families.
Products with lasers are labeled with laser hazard symbols and laser rating labels. On these labels, you will be prompted on how to react to the lasers emitted by these products.
Class II laser products sold in the U.S. are clearly marked with the CAUTION symbol, while DANGER symbols are for Class III or Class IV laser products. In addition to these distinctive markings, the product will have a warning label, and the laser's power, wavelength range, laser class, and safety requirements it meets.
Laser products sold in Europe must have the laser warning triangle mentioned above, as well as the product's laser power, wavelength range, laser class, and safety requirements it meets.
