In my opinion, no one ever came even remotely close to matching her brilliance when covering her songs, but when she did covers, she was right up there toe to toe with the originals.
Such a truly amazing and beautiful talented woman! If you’ve never read the book Soul Picnic about her life I highly recommend it. I loved that she didn’t bow down to the big record companies who tried to stifle her creativity and free spirit. She was an individual and her own woman undoubtedly. She deserved so much more fame and recognition. Thanks for sharing her wonderful music.
