Great reviews. Lady Frankenstein doesn't look too bad, kinda like hammer but not quite. With some tweaks the Lucifer complex could've been very good and lol at the Devil Bat's screech
Long and pointless driving scenes are a hallmark of Ed Wood movies.
If I remember correctly ‘The Lucifer Complex’ was a project that was originally abandoned when the project ran out of money. Director David L Hewett then added footage from another unfinished movie about a women’s prison before bringing it up to feature length by shooting the framing story. So it’s actually 3 movies in one!
and none of them are remotely watchable.
Yeah, I have this set, Killer Creatures, and Madness 50 movie sets. Certainly the eclectic range of flicks. Really happy to see someone review these films though. It's like a mini time capsule review because a lot of these films will be lost to people's memories as technology advances and older media has become more damage and lost to time. Now some of them deserve that, but there are a few exceptions like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and some others in that set.
Re: "The Lucifer Complex": If you want a good version of this same basic idea, I highly recommend "The Boys From Brazil". I don't want to say too much, cuz it's something of a mystery, and I don't want to ruin that for people who don't now the plot.

I didn't search specifically but your description of The Head sounds like a film adaptation of a novel "Professor Dowell's Head" by famous Soviet writer Alexandr Belyaev. It also has an old professor being kept as a head by his former assistant. And a transplantation scene from a bodyless cabaret singer to the body of an actress who died during trainwreck. Even if I'm wrong and the film isn't an adaptation I would highly recommend to check out the book.

Notice how a cab is pulling in behind that cab? Dollars to donuts, Ed Wood's original draft he intended the cab to go through the roundabout and the cab was supposed to pick the guy up.
Pretty good first part to this boxset. Definitely curious to see what the rest of the set holds

edit: also, I just had the revelation that The Lucifer Complex might be the first reaction video ever.
It only made sense to me at the time to use the Wolfenstein level music for the movie with the demonetization police.

I'd say the scientist who was possessed by the alien force in "Kronos" (1957) qualifies as a "mad scientist. "

The Head seems awful lot like a rip-off of a 1925 sci-fi novel Professor Dowell's Head by Alexander Belyaev.
Crazy scientist with a who does head transplant experiments - check.
A scientist who got his severed head kept alive against his will - check.
A female assistant who uncovers the truth - check.
Woman gets a head transplant - check (though in the novel it was some cabaret singer and not assistant).
