  • The fisheries sector plays a crucial role in Cabo Verde’s economy and livelihood. In the last years, the Government of Cabo Verde has put many efforts in fostering the Blue Transformation and to support sustainability of the fisheries sector in the country. In video, Mr Albertino Martins, National Director of Fisheries and Aquaculture in Cabo Verde, focuses on strengths and weaknesses of the fisheries sector and of the associated value chains, as well as highlights the strategic areas of intervention of the FAO SVC4SIDS project.
The SVC4SIDS is a global project implemented by FAO with funding from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea. In Cabo Verde, the project is working to enhance the effectiveness of the tuna and black mackerel value chains and to nurture the development of sustainable fisheries.
