Grew up on this movie. I own thee vhs, four dvd, and a few digital downloads. I can recite entire sections of the screenplay word for word. Hands down the best sports move ever.
I just finished watching Hoosiers again. I've lost count on how many times I've watched it. One of my favorites. It came out when I was in high school. Now my high school has been great in basketball the last few years. Back to Back title game appearances the last two years. Winning one of the two.
It's my all time favorite movie. My school won the state title in Ohio when this movie was in the theaters. I was a student manager on that team, and kind of like Rade/Dr Hollar, I've intermingled memories of both together. Our title game was quite different, we had a huge lead at halftime and hung on to win, but we had been a laughingstock as a basketball school until a middle-aged, former college coach took the job, and the rest, of course, is history.
Damn- OUTSTANDING. every year around this time, I am drawn to HOOSIERS and high school basketball. HOOSIERS is the best sports movie ever made - hands down. Nothing else is close. This video is excellent, excellent, excellent. Thanks.
The same director and some of the same production team did a soccer movie between 96-98 iirc. I'm not sure. Maybe early 90's. I can tell without looking that Hoosiers was 1986. The soccer movie just never can or will hold the same appeal. Just that this guy is calling it soccer and not football indicates a likely troll effort, grade D-
the bottom line is this..against all odds the school won...against so many odds this movie became a classic that will live on forever and ever. The director fought so many battles, even the music is perfect.

Wow!! I'm finding out so much about this movie lately! Actually, it's my all-time favorite! HICKORY!!
Love how nice this guy is, love the movie , awesome.
looks the same and so nice
I really liked this guy in the movie!
All the players performed very naturally and believably. I was surprised to find out that only one of them had any acting experience (Everett).
Amazing, and even more amazing he really did it in real life... wow!
What a great story!

@MUFCHey Commie. Maybe we can have a soccer movie celebrating a tie with participation trophies. That would be awesome and a box office smash.

They should release the movie with the deleted scenes.
"Can't win unless we score!"
Wonder if Steve attended any sessions at Ray Meyer's basketball camp in Northern Wisconsin. I have fond memories of going for 3-4 years in a row.
''And here's the interesting part -' cuts him off and we don't get to hear what it was.
I was thinking the same thing. They would have had time for it if he cut the part of than looooong sports anchor set up before the story ran. :-(
I'd shout out, "SIT DOWN". #SIT!
“My team’s on the floor”.....
I liked Ray in the movie.
The anchor has quite a nice set o' teeth himself.
Got him a good one, didn’t I coach?

What a great story!
