The second one wasn't bad. If you could build something like that yourself, you could build one for 50,000. We know a man that builds small homes 1 bedroom and 1 bath. They look like little cabins. They have a nice little front porch on them. They are nicer then these. He built one for 25,000. He uses the Amish to build them. He rents them out for like 900 a month. Might be alittle more. Mostly young couples with no children rent them. No welfare cases. They keep the area and homes up nicely.
These homes are great. What sucks is the standard track home lot keeps getting smaller. Just because you got a tiny home... Doesn't mean you need a tiny lot. They are stacked like typical track home, but slicing the pie thinner.
They don't look like homes - looks institutional. You can reach out the window and touch the next sleeping pod. Horrible. Worth about 20k on that small lot.
I’m glad someone will have a roof over their head; but it’s sad to see the high cost per square foot, lack of open space, and how they have to live by the sewage lake. Also terrible to hear how they’re allowing investors to purchase these vs encouraging/helping more first time home buyers and/or people that really need a home.
The quality of the material looks so cheap. Texas have hurricanes and tornadoes; a little huff & puff and it’ll all fall down. Seriously, it’s sad when families have to squeeze into these tight spaces just to have a place to call their own.
No worse than many full size home developments. I'm sure they are to code. Quality costs more and the builder isn't going to skimp on his profit margin.
Thank you for showing us this! That first house was deeply depressing. It is completely non-functional for a variety of buyers, with that LADDER (pregnant women, people who have to carry babies/small children, the elderly, anyone infirm or disabled, etc.). That first one seemed built exclusively for young, single, child-free, able-bodied people).
How odd. At that point wouldn't it make more sense to make condos? I get having a house is "the American dream" but these things are just strange. It would have to be more cost-effective to build multi-unit housing.
First, you are not likely to find a condo for $126k anywhere worth living. And second, with a condo you have common walls, no yard. Is this ideal? No, but for a young single person who wants to get out of an apartment, they can buy this very cheaply, live there for a couple of years, hopefully gain some equity and then move up. Given where the real estate market is today, I think its a great idea. If I were younger I would think about buying 3 or 4 of them and renting them out.
@@klstrat996 Hopefully the whole community doesn't end up as being rentals since I think it would defeat the whole purpose of having affordable houses people can actually buy.

And imagine if you have more than one car, where the hell do you Park it? It’s sad that this will become the new reality for many Americans. We the people, have to rise up and stop this insanity.
I think tiny homes are getting more popular with younger generations so we are seeing more of them pop up. Some folks just want to buy a small place and spend most of their time traveling or doing things away from home. Also to mention more and more people don’t want kids nowadays, so it allows for that sort of lifestyle.
This doesn’t lead to more home ownership - it’s the same damn set up with investors buying most of them and renting them out. So they remain poorly maintained with revolving door tenants, potential trouble with the law and no nice little neighborhood.
Give that 5-10 years and see what happens. I agree. The corporate investers will poach those homes with their unlimited money and they will rent those homes for a high rent payment.
They kind of ruined the tiny home thing with this. Tiny home life is fun because of the land you have surrounding your tiny. You’re too close to other people. You have no space to spread out and barely a back yard or a front yard. Negative. Can we get a sliding glass door😩😩 however the 2 story model is livable.
25 years ago you paid those prices, it's called erosion of purchasing power of the dollar aka inflation. 30 years ago I paid $275K and my home which is now worth $1.2M --- it's a wash however with the devalued fiat.

@@DrLusEnglish ok we make it illegal for people to build themselves a home smaller than 2,500 Sqft for the American dream.

True
Yep way to expensive for what you get.
I thought 600 square foot one was cute but to pricey for the size. It is definitely cheaper then rent.
Wow $160,000 for such a small place. 14 years ago, I paid $55,000 for a 1500 sq ft home.
As a person who makes $40,000 a year. Incomes aren't going up, so some of us can only afford this if you want to get out of the $1,600 rent
These small "cookie cutter" houses are depressing.
😂😂😂
Those models are the worst.
The quality of the material looks so cheap. Texas have hurricanes and tornadoes; a little huff & puff and it’ll all fall down. Seriously, it’s sad when families have to squeeze into these tight spaces just to have a place to call their own.
The concrete slab - properly bolted to it and it should be fine.
@@metalmike570Properly bolt wood to it!? You need a storm shelter bolted to it, not match sticks.
Not functional for some but functional for others. Giving people more options is good.

@@cherylschneider6903 It is a good visual of Lennar's slap-dashery.
@@klstrat996 yeah you and I both want that but you just admitted they'd make more money for less with condos.
People don't want to share walls with people. Plus with a little yard it looks nice enough.

"houses" this small should be used for the homeless and people going through difficult times. This is the housing marking peeing on the American people and telling them it's raining.
I like the idea of tiny homes, but not on a lot size that small. You're better off buying a large parcel of land and putting a tiny home on it.
Finding a parcel, within commuting distance to your job, that you can afford, is the tricky part.
I saw these "houses" when returning back from Austin, Tx and thought they were built by the Government to be given to homeless. II really can't believe they are being built America!!!!

I think tiny homes are getting more popular with younger generations so we are seeing more of them pop up. Some folks just want to buy a small place and spend most of their time traveling or doing things away from home. Also to mention more and more people don’t want kids nowadays, so it allows for that sort of lifestyle.

Give that 5-10 years and see what happens. I agree. The corporate investers will poach those homes with their unlimited money and they will rent those homes for a high rent payment.
