I just made some cornmeal porridge and followed your recipe but changed the milk for Almond Milk and it came perfect.
I'm a student and I live away from home and there are no Caribbean or West Indian Takeaways nearby so can't wait to try more of your recipes.
    Thank you. x

I remember as a kid pouring milk over my porridge. My family likes to make it really thick. So the milk would pull over to the sides of the bowl. I scraping the sides of the bowl. The milk was nice and warm and at the bottom of my spoon was the corn porridge. Like a little treat. lol the things you remember as a kid.

I haven't cooked cornmeal porridge for nearly 30 years. I always brought it from the restaurant for my son. I decided I would try and make it after watching your video. I followed your recipe and I was so proud of the finish product. I had some and my son said it was better than the Jamaican restaurant. No lumps and I can truly say I loved it too.
Thank you again. Next meal is turn cornmeal. Please keep posting your delicious recipes 📫

I'm so glad to have found this recipe. Im a full blooded Caribbean (Jamaican and Bahamian) but raised in the U.S. I haven't made or had cornmeal porridge in sooo long! My mom recently made me some and now Im hooked again! I followed this recipe to a T, but swapped the milk for almond and used powdered allspice. It was great. I would just suggest adding salt and allspice to taste. mine was a little bitter because of the two, so I continued adding milk and a little coconut (coffee) creamer (as a stand in for the sweet milk) and a tbs of raw sugar until I got the taste I wanted. Next time I'll do the spices to taste.
