- Emergency Physician Dr. Arun Sayal, and Registered Orthopaedic Technologist Laura Cardona, take us behind the scenes to North York General Hospital’s Gulshan & Pyarali G. Nanji Orthopaedic and Plastics Centre to see how a person with a fracture is assessed and how the right cast is chosen and applied.
Wow the way to remove it is so much better now. When I had my cast removed back in the early 2000s they used a giant saw blade and put a plastic strip under the cast so they dont cut my arm accidentally 🤣
lool
Just broke mine today Orthopedic should be calling Tommorow
I didnt know the cast process, I still thought they used plaster of paris. When I was 3 i had that style on my arm. I fractured my ankle 2 days ago and will probly get a cast in a few says on my checkup.
Edit: i see plaster is still used, i rarely see it
I have had four casts and when they take it off you can feel your bone viberate
i have the plaster one right now, i broke it last night b they need to bring swelling down, i get a real cast on tuesday
Remind me to never break a bone lol
damnit I gotta go do that
I had a cast before on my right arm. It was badly broken in 3 parts.
If it was badly broken, you most likely would need a surgical fixation also.
