This song first came out in 1990, it appears on "Nobody's Child: Romanian Angel Appeal" which was a charity album, to benefit Romanian orphans. It was the last recording with Steven Adler on the drums in GNR. It appears also on UYI ll
It's such a big joke that he got kicked from the band because his drug addiction affected his playing. Even on the Farm Aid he and Izzy were the solid ones and Axl whom blammed Steven for his perfomance was the one who was out of tempo a couple of times. Also when they played Down On The Farm after Civil War Steven didn't even know/heard the song and he nailed it!
Steven's drumming was great, and heroin probably helped him play better. However, Axl didn't like him personally, and drugs were the excuse. Axl was avoiding rehearsals for UYI, and didn't want to be around him. There is a curious love triangle between Axl, Evelyn, and Steven. How do you think Evelyn felt about Axl sleeping with Steven's girlfriend on Rocket Queen.. If Evelyn was angry with Axl, Perhaps she tried to OD with Steven on purpose.
@@DanielHuman1996nailed it...Axl had a personal beef with Adler...Adler has an issue with Axl fcking his GF and he let Axl know, ino...Axl was a salty bitch but he was the greater talent. Alders days were numbered.
The version on YUI2 is also Adler. It was recorded just before he was fired. The song took like 30-40 takes because of one of two things. The band said he was too strung out. Steven says he was getting clean, and was genuinely sick that day.
@@lanede6698 like he said Steven has a much better groove then the others...go listen to Stevens groove and feel for the music..what did Matt do for the band other then play what Steven already put down
This apparent demo sounds like they cleaned it up in the studio and used it on the record. Every single beat is the same , I'm talking strictly drums everything else is re-recorded but the drums stand out as authentic.
@Anderson Cooper I see. Yeah, that's sad. Nothing against Matt though. Just love Steven's drumming with Guns better. Thanks for the info man. Appreciate it.
I believe the CD Single of You Could by Mine from Terminator 2 has Steven Adler playing on it. Same with Knockin' oh Heaven's Door from Days of Thunder soundtrack.
It's out there. Adler's version of ' Heavens Door is on a soundtrack but not sure which movie it was Matt Srotum copied all that Steven did , every beat like a copy cat for Illusion ? I'm sure ' You Could Be Mine has Steven on it too somwhere. Fuk axl,, STEVENS THE MAN .
Don't think official recording has Adler playing drums for Terminator sadly.Though Im Sure he did come up with the beats and groove unfortunately Scrotum played it and recorded.
@@saulhudson302 What I meant was Civil War (The second song on the CD single of YCBM) The drums are different than what appears on UYI2. But perhaps I am wrong about that. I definitely know that Days of Thunder KOHD is Adler though.
@@ophidicism Hi dude thanks for replies, Just a heads up I'm 100% sure that Civil War on the Single is the exact same recording on UYI2. I can hear it's Adler playing them Sabian Sizzle Hats I know I went out bought them cymbals. M.S ' doest have that Sizzle effect going on with the hi hats. Scrotum has no style , good drummer but not 1 once of style or groove.
Days of thunder soundtrack has a different mix of Knockin on heavens door. It's much better. Fuller. You can hear Izzy alot better. Adler never played you could be mine

Steven adler is irreplaceable, he’s drum playing is full of swag and passion ❤

I love Steven but with him it’s always someone else’s fault.
Is that you Matt Sorum?! Throwing Adler out was the end of GNR it just took GNR a while to catch up
Adler was always the best drummer for guns. Matt and Frank are just drum machines. Adler has way better groove
I agree with you until Matt, frankjust suck ass
WTF..??? u mean distinct drummers, but the best? Jajajajaja
Frank sucks on drums, that's my opinion, you don't have to like it, couldn't give a shit about you....
I agree 100%

The original one is actually played by Adler as well... We can see the difference between Adler n Matt when they hit toms...
Yeah feel vs robot
This song was recorded by steven on the album also all the guitars on this song was recorded by slash

Much better than the recording in my opinion. Steven's drumming leveled this up.

@Anderson Cooper Yes, I agree with you. Matt is technically a better drummer than Steven. But I don't think he party better than him. 😅
i agree man. All love to Matt, but i just couldn't get used to gnr without steven or izzy for that matter
@@navyblu79 Steven also plays Civil War on Use your Illusion 2. The only song of the record played by him. Matt did all the others.
Amazing.

not a massive civil war fan but this is so much better than the recording on uyi2
Bro I'm a drummer and it actually sounds exactly like the version used on the Illusion 2 Civil War , it maybe is ?
It might be the bad quality because in the album is Steven
