In the midst of life we are in death, etc In the midst of life we are in death, etc Etc, etc, etc..... one of my favorite Smiths lyrics. So funny, snarky, and sharp.
Invariably, in my vicarious experience, the folks posting on Genius belie its name. The song wasn't released as a single until almost a decade after the band had broken up. It was originally recorded as part of the band's last Peel Session on 17 Dec. '86 and, needless to say, it is one of the many reasons that "Louder than Bombs" was such a brilliant double album. You should really consider some reviews of Prefab Sprout, e.g., their wonderful debut single LIMOGES.
Love the Go-Betweens. Though if I was going to suggest a starting place it would be back to the beginning of their London period with "Cattle and Cane." Have you seen the "Australian Great Albums" program on "16 Lovers Lane"? (Entirely fascinating!). ruclips.net/video/o5427Jo4nww/видео.html
This is one of the band's most "rock'n'roll" songs, very good, very energetic.
Absolutely my favorite Smith’s song. Nice!
In the midst of life we are in death, etc

I think the correct lyrics are "in the midst of life we are in debt".

Great reviews, Marcos. I like how you critique musical performance and lyrics. Your review of ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’ would be interesting.
