Marathon Night

Once a year on Lake Nojiri in the mountains of Northern Shinshu in Nagano, a sailing marathon race is held. It is the only time when sailing at night is allowed. Intrepid sailors who are fortunate (or crazy) enough to sail all night long are rewarded with the lovely sight of the sun slowly waking up from behind Madarao. If that is the last thing that one might see at the end of a long life’s journey, it would be enough. More than enough!
Ruth Ingulsrud, an avid sailor and a veteran of the Lake Nojiri sailing marathon, wrote the lyrics for this song and is our vocalist. Jim DIgerster composed the music and plays keyboard. Jim Foster contributed the acoustic guitar backing.
