Hi Dr. Lee. Thanks for breaking that old myth. I'm going back to school now at 60 years old and love learning; I never went to college after high school, went straight to work. It is a little weird I'm older than many professors. I will graduate later this year with my A.S. in accounting. God bless you, Dr.Lee.
When I was taking my masters degree I have a 72 & 65 years old classmates. 4 Reasons why it is advantage for older adult learning new skills 1. They have better circumstances 2. Choice vs expectation 3. Sel-awareness breeds discipline 4. Proof of concept According to Albert Einstein "Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death."
I so happy that I found you. I was always scared to go back and get my education. Thank you this help my paralyzing fear to finally go for it . I'm 40 and thought it might be to late . But now I know it's in my head.
I just want you to know that I learned so many things from you. You are so generous sharing your knowledge and you help us understand. I am sure God will bless you more than what you expect. Thank you so much!
Sarah, that is so lovely of you to share. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I'm so glad to hear that you are finding my content helpful; I hope you continue to find insights from my channel!
@@DrGraceLee Wow, I am so privilege that you noticed me, truly I've learned so many things from you. Truly, you are my mentor by just only watching your vlogs. Don't go weary because your existence has a purpose. You help us to make ourselves the best as we can be. God bless you, Dr. Grace Lee. Maraming2X salamat!
Thank you For this Dr. Lee. I am a licensed Architect for more than 5 years plus 2 years in my internship and I’m about to take a new Degree but I’m afraid and have this myth that this is not for met because I’m getting old. And hearing this encourages me to really pursue it, that it’s not yet too late. Thank you again. 😊 God Bless
Choice vs. Expectation We want to be in the situation that we are in. I love the example of you learning to play the piano. Great video Grace and thank you for sharing this with our adult community. This is a lesson that everyone needs to hear! Keep learning and keep growing.
I just love listening to you..... I am turning 60 and have been quiet and reserved most of my life so I never really learned to interact much with people.
Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Grace! I recall a prof during my doctoral studies telling us at a presentation in FLE (Foreign Language Education, my major) that nobody should pursue a tonal language after age 40-wow. Just wow. I was the only grad student in a freshman Mandarin Chinese class at the time since I knew I wanted to emigrate to Taiwan and wanted a head start on the language. I still take 1-on-1 lessons from professional teachers-why? Because I live here, not for professional reasons. I’ve lately started Pimsleur Vietnamese lessons while I ride the YouBike to work and elsewhere and this is at age (%3$ (my age expressed in an obscure Vietnamese dialect). I do this because my Vietnamese students have invited me to go visit them and I would like some Survival Vietnamese skills. No pressure makes for stress-free learning-no grades, no need to use the languages for professional purposes, etc.
Happy to learn that the adult brain is flexible and should be challenged always bursting the myth of you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks for that knowledge.
