LL Bean Continental Rucksack Load Out!

  • 2020 Edit....This pack has changed a lot since I purchased mine. I'm told it no longer comes with side straps and the side pouches have been made smaller(cant hold a nalgene bottle).
    I’ve had this pack for a while now and have put it through its paces. Got to admit that it is my favorite Bushcraft pack. It’s really not that expensive, has just enough features that make it work well, not over complicated, has been on overnighters, and has held up really well! Thought I’d go a load out showing what I happen to have in the pack for an “after work hike”!

    Chuck I also have the Husqvarna Carpenter's Axe and if I had my druther's I would take the Husqvarna Camping Axe for weight savings as I tend to over pack being relatively new to Bushcrafting as opposed to car camping.

      I have a few axes, but I find myself using this one the most for Bushcraft and camping nearby, which is mostly hardwood forests. I have a Gransfor Bruks forrest axe, which I generally took on dog sledding trips or canoe trips up north in the pine forests.

    just bought mine the other day. apparently the side straps are just for looks as the 2020 version no longer has them so cant strap my axe down on the side and all the weight is focused on the large side pocket

    I've got the same Ruck, it allows you to pack more in it than I originally though. Straps on the top and bottom are great for a small tent and sleeping bag. I use mine for overnight camping. Carries every thing I need. Thanks for the video.

      It’s a surprisingly capable ruck huh?! I’ve used it for overnights and think I could stretch it two nights. Have fun, thanks for watching!

    What's the height on the pack? I just ordered one. I live in Florida, and I'd like to keep a machete in the axe sleeve. I'm just curious what kind of blade length I can get away with.

    • @timberdogz
      @timberdogz  4 года назад

      The machete would definitely stick out the bottom a bit. I've stowed my machete in the sleeve and it stuck out a few inches.

    • @ethanbox2010
      @ethanbox2010 4 года назад

      @@timberdogz that depends on the length of the machete and the height of the pack, though, right?

    • @timberdogz

      Yup! I’ll measure it over the weekend and get back to ya!

    • @timberdogz
      @timberdogz  5 лет назад +1

      The particular cup in this video is a Kuplika. A Kuksa type cup but made from compressed wood. You can get them on Amazon....www.amazon.com/Kupilka-K21-Cup/dp/B002C3KC8S/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1549858155&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=kuplika&dpPl=1&dpID=41vEo7emAQL&ref=plSrch

      @@masongates246 Bag has geld up very well. I've had it about one year now, its been out on a few overnighters and many day trips...and I usually pack heavy! No real signs of wear on the pack. My only criticism(and its easily modified) would be the length of the straps on the bottom and top. If they were a little longer It would be great!
