Love the videos. Your a great help and knowing you use these tips in a professional sense adds real weight to what you’re saying. Anyway, can you please do a tutorial on how to make the tile building system from your building games
It would be awesome to have links to all web resources you mentioned in video. I made couple of screenshots but there are lots of useful information. Thanks
Can you make a tutorial about how to connect a game to the Steam Workshop? It is so complicated and I couldn't find a tutorial about it. Would love to see that! :-)
That was very informative thanks a lot got a video, about the in game sign up form? it'd be great if you share your process on that, as doing things like integrating mailchimp is no quick task.
On the Unity side it's really just a HTTP call, the complex part is on whatever server type you use I covered HTTP here ruclips.net/video/Gk0-amfn5DM/видео.html
My game I started working on (on and off) for the last 6 months is a simple 4 player military strategy game but it uses steam networking so I'm kinda restricted to steam and won't be able to branch out. Guess I'll just have to do good on the social media / marketing side! Thinking of doing a devlog on youtube and/or tiktok since I'm probably still up to a year from release
Don't get stuck thinking you can only release massive games. Try to make something short and sweet. Look at One Finger Death Punch or Dive Kick. Extremely simple games but very well created and were massively successful!
Great videos and very helpful.. But only one issue though, I believe It's problematic to posting your game trailer on RUclips if you're just starting & you don't have a RUclips channel with a fan base and a lot of pre-existing videos.. Do you advice in this case against posting on RUclips? I mean is it going to discredit your game if you do this on a channel that only has the 1 trailer video? And also for Facebook if it's a newly created page? We need your advice on how to tackle this
There's no harm in posting on RUclips. It wont get many views but that's normal, its not a problem. If the game is interesting people will play it, the total number of views or subscribers doesnt matter for getting someone interested
Thanks for the helpful video, but I have a question that I hope you answer. Does Steam require that I not sell my game or display it on any other platform such as Google Play or App Store? thanks
Just like with any other content creator it all depends on how many followers they have. If a big curator recommends your game it means your game will show up in a few more places, and that curator review will be highlights. But yeah curators with 10 followers really won't do much
Hi! You said emails is great for marketing but the most difficult. Would you recommend getting people interested in your game to join a discord and then perhaps you could @everyone and post updates there instead of hoping they will view/respond to emails or both?
I would say do both because some people like Discord and some don't. For example I don't use Discord so if I were interested in your game I would only be interested in an email notification and not Discord
To just add the game to Steam you don't need any special code, just a normal executable file. If you want to add Steam features, which you definitely should do, then yes you need to implement their API using something like Steamworks.NET

Yes, this is extremely helpful. Before watching it, I have no idea how to release the game on steam. Thanks for making such great video. :)
Coming across these videos now that our game is getting closer to release, a lot of helpful info here 🙂
Best of luck with the release!
Came from the previous video "before release."
Another helpful video of yours! (Also, sorry for deleting comment)
Thanks for this series. The steps are super helpful, especially all the marketing related stuff.

Yeah I've been writing a series of videos on how to do Grid Maps, Heat Maps and more. Will be able to finish then when I come back from Unite.
It would be awesome to have links to all web resources you mentioned in video. I made couple of screenshots but there are lots of useful information. Thanks
Great work
Very helpful video. Thanks
Can you make a tutorial about how to connect a game to the Steam Workshop? It is so complicated and I couldn't find a tutorial about it. Would love to see that! :-)
Yeah the Workshop definitely seems confusing at start so it's something I'm planning on doing a video on.
That was very informative thanks a lot

Thank you, that's so helpful, I hope I'll remember this video when I'm about to launch a game.
I don't even know why I'm watching this, I haven't even started making my game
It's a great video nonetheless
Love this video! Keep them coming :)

These videos are very interesting although I doubt ill ever get to releasing a big solo game.

Steam does not require exclusivity so sell your games wherever you can
Thanks a lot
Thank you for the concise list even though I’m not entirely sure about the usefulness of curators 🤔

for a tutorial, can you show maybe a good way of doing code repositories with unity? git/svn ect?
Yes I'd definitely like to do some videos covering source control since its such an important part of programming.
I want to make games because of code monkey, and dani
Awesome! Best of luck!
What do you think of itch.io?
It's pretty great as an easy way to upload your game for people to download.
However the userbase is much smaller and completely different from Steam
Did you need to add any code for it to run on steam..I've seen something to that affect?
To just add the game to Steam you don't need any special code, just a normal executable file.
If you want to add Steam features, which you definitely should do, then yes you need to implement their API using something like Steamworks.NET
@@CodeMonkeyUnity so the folder from the unity build is no good?.. Do you need a wrapper to put everything in one file.?
@@random_precision_software It doesn't have to be compressed into a single file, you can upload the build folder just as it comes from Unity
@@CodeMonkeyUnity ok that's good to know.👍
Do you have mobile game
No, all my games are PC, Mac, Linux
