Thanks for the footage of your Lake District trip; rought back so many great memories. I'm new to the channel from the US & loving your Scottish recipes. My husband & I spent a week at Bowness-on-Windermere and recognized almost everything in your video. It is a lovely, lovely area, as is Scotland, needless to say. We loved being there also - only twice in our lifetime, in 2002 and 2019.
Lovely what's for tea video that food looks amazing lovely place you visited ❤️ I always watch to the end Cheryl looking forward to seeing your 🍍 tarts next week yummmm
Great meals when you came back, especially that salad, it looks great. We find Windermere too busy, we've been to Grasmere, Elterwater, Keswick. More recently we've just been in Lancs and stayed in Appleby, Kirby Lonsdale and Clitheroe, all really lovely places. Thanks for sharing xxx
This is my new favorite channel! One thing I'm horrible at is making sides with dinner. I love how you have many sides to accompany your main dish. Something I need to work on.
Your countryside is breathtakingly beautiful! I see as your drive home and of course I think that should’ve been the destination ;) I’ve been enjoying a Scottish Shepard who has a RUclips channel called The Sheep Game- SOOOO interesting and beautiful to watch as well. He sheep’s, scans, and shears for a living- and was or maybe still is a police officer. He done some drone work from some of his trips around when he’s hired to scan the pregnant ewes or shear 🐑- so fascinating and gorgeous!
How lovely!! I'm so glad you and Mr. WFT got to get away for a little holiday! Landscape is beautiful and the sheep were adorable!! I love the place you stayed in!! The sweet, quirky decor looks really fun and cozy! Thanks so much for bringing us along on your adventure!
I have two friends who live near where you visited. They ride their Icelandic horses all over the mountain trails, and their photos are amazing like yours. I stayed to watc the video's end. Enjoyed the scenery and food. Thanks for adding it all in. 🐑💕
Cheryl I just love your videos and I'm glad I came across them awhile back. I always watch till the end. Love hearing what you have to say. That calzone looked so good. Thanks for sharing all this with us. 😊
I've never seen Heinz soup before. Shops here have Campbells and Progresso soups with their own generic brands. Cream of tomato with grilled cheese sandwich is a favorite.
You can sometimes find it in the international section of the grocery store. It’s available at Giant and Harris Teeter here in the Washington DC area. Also, World Market has it sometimes. Mind you, it’s a bit pricey because it’s an import.
It's over 20 years since I was in Bowness (for a family wedding). We all stayed at the Old England Hotel, very near the ferry jetty. As you'll have seen, swans are big birds and, when we were there, they were quite aggressive. Especially around someone who had food for them. Despite the years that have passed the place looks exactly as I remember it.
Stayed until the end. Loved the lamb. So beautiful. Live in Texas. In the area we have people who keep goats. They're really cute especially the babies. Glad you enjoyed your holiday. Take care God bless
I grew up about 45 minutes from Windermere. It’s a lovely place to visit many places in the lakes are beautiful I would visit many more places. My grandparents were from Cumbria .They got married in Kendal. That’s a lovely place not far from Windermere. Enjoyed your video.❤️ made me homesick . I’ve lived in USA for 35 yrs now. . I lossed my mum 3 yrs ago. I couldn’t fly back as I have MS now and the flight would of been to much for me. My family is still on the border of Cumbria .
I have missed being able to see your travels. It's nice to see the rooms as well as the great-looking food you don't have to cook! You deserved this break. Hope it was fun. xx
Glad you had a lovely time and the hotel looks gorgeous. I like about 45 mins from windermere and its a very busy place all the time and probably due to covid everybody is visiting even more so now lockdown is lifted. Summer time it will be even busier. Next time you go get on the launch its a lovely trip. Lovely meals x
Your "Sugar on a Stick" is what we in the USA call "Hard Rock Candy" . It is yummy. I look forward to your Penne and tart recipes. That Laura Ashley piece is very nice. I love the Lake District. I watch Max Out In The Lake District..they post 2 videos a day(usually) short live videos showing walks around the Lake District with 3 Springer Spaniels. Max (the dog) is actually "famous." He is getting a statue. I always love your videos too.
Lovely video we go to the lakes quite often as my brother and his family live in Ulverston it gorgeous so is Scotland we been to various places in Scotland to. I live in Gateshead across the Tyne from Newcastle.
Thanks Cheryl for sharing your trip, looks like you both had a great time and the weather was great for you both. the meals look yummy too, love the way they served up your fish and chips, still can not get my head around black pudding my tummy turns, just thinking about it your next you tube. Cheers Deb😋👍💖😺
Looks fab! The food, the guest house, the area! Definitely looks like a place to visit. I’m back to Scotland next summer for a few months, so I’m making a list of places to see. The Lake District looks like a fun place to go. Thanks for sharing! Xoxo
As soon as they get the US=UK airbridge thing going I'm coming back over and though I lived in East Anglia for a number of years never been to the Lake District. Looks great!
Its already in 100F here in SoCal. Enjoy yr wonderful weather! It seemed a bit pricey in the restaurant and I agree w other commenter:Youʻre home meals look as good as the restaurants!
Great looking dishes (was a bit shocked at the price of the pizza) hoping to make up a What's for Tea week for the other half soon - winter here so looking for a few nice warm dinners. I make your version of roast potatoes and they always go down a treat and never fail. Also did your cauliflower cheese last week and that was a hit (I did a broccoli/cauli mix). Thanks for sharing - I look forward to seeing your notifications in the inbox. Waves from Australia
Awesome video as usual! As a Scottish lass now living in Florida by how I miss me Scottish food I.e black pudding, bacon, fish and chips basically everything lol! The scenery was amazing too! I’m gonna make mince and tatties this week, my daughter was born in states but she loves mince and tatties!
Glad you enjoyed your little break. We love round that area. We live North East of Scotland so a fair wee hike down to there. Looking forward to the Pineapple Tarts. I made your Black Pudding Pakora recipe last night. They were a BIG hit with me and my "Mr What’s for Tea"😂🤣😀 Stay Safe, 🏴🏴🏴
Lovely meals. Really liked the salads. Lake District is stunning, I thought it was Italy with that Italian cafe!! Was there about 30 years ago on a college trip! would love to take my US family one of these days. Really enjoy your out and about videos..thank you
Who else is watching this and thinking when will she pop some down to me lol. Joking aside i once had a lovely neighbour who would drop casseroles and mince and dumplings off she lived alone and cooked to much and loved to feed her friends up. lovely old lady she passed away many years ago but i will always be grateful of her casseroles. I was only 20 at the time living on my own in my first flat and my cooking skills were not so good.
We were in Bowness last October for a few days before another lockdown and it was deserted, it’s always been chokka just like your vlog and to be honest it was fab to basically have the place to ourselves, just us and the birds 😊 x
That's a normal weekend, it gets even busier.. I only live about half an hour away and we sometimes take a run out to feed the birds... It relaxs me. Glad you enjoyed it xx
Lovely area down there very pretty, the scenery is gorgeous . Breakfast looked good pleanty of it too just needed an egg lol. Pineapple tarts omg the bakers that was in dalmellington used to make the best ever. I can't eat them now anyway but I can dream x
Glad you had a nice wee holiday. That Italian place you were at, it featured in one of Gorden Ramsey's programs where it really wasn't doing well & he turned that around for them. Wonder if its still the same owners? Certainly seems busy now going by your description.
Such a treat to get a glimpse of the Lake District and Windermere, it's been 45 years since we were there, and before that we honeymooned there as we got married in university rag week and had no time to go farther afield. 😊 It was March and I loved the lambs everywhere too. And local grub, yummy. 🙂 I grew up on Tyneside but never learned to love black puddin' though. 😉 Thank you for sharing. I have the same bother with crowds so just watching was fine with me. Crowds of birds are okay though. So many Canada geese, they can be very aggressive, and swans too, how good to see them all nonchalant. 😊
Hi Cheryl. Thanks for sharing pics of your trip and of those amazing bacon rashers. Worth staying there just for those. Yes, we Scots should not be out in the sun. As Billy Connolly said, we need an asbestos suit and welder’s helmet. Even with an SFP 50 or up, gotta keep reapplying.
That was so much fun, still seeing what you had to eat on your holiday, and a bit about where you stayed. I envious of those breakfasts. We just don't have as nice ingredients, though I have a local farmer who makes some amazing bacon.
Waiting for those tarts! Enjoy your trips out.I will be in Ireland,Scotland and England in September(Covid allowing) Your channel makes me anxious to come over..in a good way😍😍🇺🇸
It looked like a lovely place for a little holiday. I come from deep in the Appalachian mountains of rural Virginia, I'm not comfortable in crowds either. If we plan to stay in a tourist town, we always try to go in the middle of the week. 😆
I love the Lake District almost as much as Loch Awe or Ayrshire in general ;-) I think the birds might be a tad less social when they have their young, geese and swans can snap at you just passing a little too close over here
Thanks for calling our social anxiety...it’s a real thing. I went into Glasgow city centre yesterday (Saturday) afternoon and it was way too much!
Thanks for all the pictures and videos of your vacation. So much fun to watch! I live in Texas where the countryside is way different. LOL
Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I can't wait to get back to the Lake District 🦢🐑🙂
absolutely beautiful country!! thanks for sharing!!

Ohhhh Cheryl, Rum Doodle sounds and looks absolutely amazing, what wonderful imaginations the people who own it have!
What a great way to serve fish + chips Cheryl. The baskets must be a bugger to keep so clean.
Til the end! Never get fed up listening to you😎♥️☮️🌸

The salad: where I come from in Newfoundland, we call this a cold plate. Usually the day after a roast dinner. Yum!
That’s so funny that’s what we would call it in Ireland as well....
That makes so much sense as Newfoundland is made up of so many folks, largely Scotttish & Irish!! 💙
Newfoundland here too!!
Thoroughly loved seeing this video, love your warmly ness
the lake district is a lovly part ah the contery we when on the canle roots last year was braw

I love the Lake District almost as much as Loch Awe or Ayrshire in general ;-) I think the birds might be a tad less social when they have their young, geese and swans can snap at you just passing a little too close over here
I actually meant Argyll and Bute for Loch Awe but Ayrshire is also fabulous
Sister I could drown in that bathtub; no seriously I'm only 4 fit 8 and 1/2! But what a way to go. Blessings and much love
