This reminds me of Noah from the notebook. Especially that scene when he asks Allie what she does for fun and immediately realizes she doesn’t really let herself have fun so he gets her to lay down in the street until a car almost hits them to make her see how much she actually craves excitement. And that’s when she really falls for him.

I started my last relationship, which ended a couple months ago, without having read this book (I’m actually just diving into it now and finished the chapter on Ideal Lover today). When I pursued her, I unknowingly seduced her as the Ideal Lover, and let me tell you, the dangers laid out here are 100% real. She started to see me as a flawed person and within a year, at most, she started to lose feelings for me. On top of that, she has her own issues which didn’t help. Definitely don’t use this strategy if your goal is a long term/serious relationship

Youth was a sucky time. Everyone dominated you, demanded you suppress every emotion, suppress every drive, conform to what course of action or thinking their way of doing things dictated. It was horrible. At least when I work, I get to do things and apply myself.
As an adult, I still can dream, only now, the only things in the way are reality, which I can have the ability to come to understand and work with, instead of having people tell me I'm inadequate and placing artificial obstacles like grades and judgements in my path. The best time of your life is when you get to handle things by your own competencies; it's the only way you get to succeed, enjoy contentment, and be rewarded for your efforts.
