You do remember 1984, George Orwell's book and he didn't even experience AI? Scary stuff.

Yes, I read that book in 1983. If you remember the main character was a guy named Winston Smith. In the beginning of the year 1984, a guy named (you guessed it), Winston Smith. He was a mechanic and helped me in many ways but had his own idiosyncrasies that I will be writing about in my book. 50 years in the trees. Up to 98 pages and I’m working on it every day.

I love your channel for the humanistic insights just as much as for the trees. You present a really important perspective as a lifelong tradesman. I am a graduate student in Philosophy and these debates about AI are all the rage amongst academics. I think they tend to miss the forest for the trees though.

I saw an article about patents being applied for digital tracking for human activities where the assigned task completions are measured by your body movements. This would be implemented because humans are replaced by robots for menial tasks. "Job" will be redefined.
When a task is completed, you get digital coin transferred to your account as payment.
Who do they plan to have create the tasks?
What if you don't complete tasks? How will you earn money?

Great story. I believe AI is a convenient scapegoat to some deeply rooted and flawed philosophies. Was JP Morgan not using the same flawed algorithm which maximized a singular output (profit) while ignoring any other factors? My ancestors in Dakota territory, employed by the US cavalry, were approached by Chief Sitting Bull (whose party disrupted the work of Gen custer). Sitting Bull used the orange hair on a young girl to remind his party of a time of peace between his people and white men from the north (I think Vikings 1000 years prior). The very red headed colonists of USA had ethnic heritage akin to native North Americans, which was wiped by the Roman Empire) This topic reminds me of an old interview with Zach De La Rocha. ruclips.net/video/9raTwE8-12A/видео.htmlsi=W_dJkwjvc4DpQteH
As a tree worker, I’m selling my labors to ‘the machine’, but I am also helping to maintain some deeply important tree stuff for humans, etc.
