hey! I am in your school you spoke really well start an own youtube channel and tell tips how to speak so confidently and to get good topics to speak on keep it up!
Too much focusing on the victimhood without recognizing what the social function of bullying is : "you're not behaving in the proper way to be a part of this group, change it or face the consequences". If your "friends" bully you, either you're awful at choosing friends or they may have a point and you're blind to it. The proper way out is indeed to reach out for help and bullies should be punished when they harass you (it's important to define harassment clearly). But you should also seek help to make you more resilient and more socially adaptable so that will disuade people from even wanting to bully you. It's important to give resposibility to the person bullied too : i.e. too sensitive, too nice, too fragile. People get bullied because they're different so it's up to them to acknowledge in what way they are different and wether it's more profitable to change to fit better or to stick to their guns and fight for people to accept their difference or find another group. Having your bullies punished is just going to fix the problem until you meet other like them. Fixing yourself solves the problem for good. And Yes, I too was bullied in middle/highschool because I was a weird kid. But when I got friends who told me what I was doing wrong in a sufficently nice manner AND I was willing to hear them out, I gradually started to change the things that I was ok with changing and became more accepted. TL;DR : don't just blame the bullies. take a look at yourself and see what you can change about yourself to improve the situation.
hihyou Firstly, thank you for your looooooooong comment. Thank you for putting so much time and effort into this comment. So basically, I did analyse the situation and considered whether I was being annoying or whether there was something wrong with my behaviour. I have mentioned in my talk that I did fight them. I am not friends with them anymore. I fought back. And about the part where I am bad about choosing friends, all I have to say is, well we all make mistakes. Also, I didn't play victim. Nowhere in my speech have I said play victim... I have spoken about fighting back because that's what I did IRL.
Social function of harassing people? Blame the victim? Are you serious? Bullying is just an eufemism for things that would get you fired or in jail if you weren't a kid

Bullying can only come when you want to be accepted by other people.
Urja Mhatre You're right, I should've been more specific. Non-physical bullying can only effect you if you want to be accepted by other people.
