    I just found your channel in my feed tonight…I subbed cause I think you’re awesome, very patient and made me laugh more than once!
    I’m sure you know this but for others who don’t or are new to quilting here’s why this could happen:
    This typically happens when quilters don’t/can’t identify what cutting “on grain” or “off grain” does to fabric. The elasticity of the project is working against pieces that were cut incorrectly. Block sizes have no bearing whether a quilt or garment lays correctly… I say this as I sew my own clothes but started quilting first and although I was taught about grain didn’t *fully* appreciate it until I tried sewing a garment, I still have nightmares… one piece was cut incorrectly… popped a button trying it on😅
    If they cut all off grain or all on grain then at least while sewing the blocks together, where blocks generally get the most tugging and abuse, the little stretches here and there would add up to a wrinkle or two. Inconsistent grain cuts plus tugging while sewing results in a well loved but wonky laying quilt.
    .
    This is also another reason for cutting *certain* fabrics on the bias when binding a quilt. Over time some fabrics that should have been cut on the bias and weren’t have ends or sides that look wonky after washing.
    Hope that helps anyone dealing with this…just know we’ve all been there ❤

    I've watched your channel for awhile now and you've done some beautiful and impressive things. But I have to say that this video impressed me more than any other one. What you did here is nothing less than sheer magic. Also, it's a really good example for quilters on how bias can cause a lot of issues. Great job Lorena!

I had run across this too and did the same type thing not sure if it was ok, my long arm is not computerized so when I do a pantograph I have to anchor, watch the laser and go slow enough to try to smooth from the opposite side, quite challenging but always happy quilters in the end👍love all your videos😊😊😊

    I get a little thrill from a challenge quilt too. But one finally outdid me. A vintage DWR quilt. Owner and I decided we are going to carefully rip out the little 4 square sections where the rings come together and replace them with larger ones. They are just so tight there was no way to stretch and pull the rest of the ring sections.

      That’s a little rude. I am a new quilter, having done only one quilt. A queen sized story photo quilt 100% totally hand stitched that took me two years to complete. I didn’t make triangles or four point intersections because I knew I did not have the skill. But I did irregular blocks and fitted everything in to suit my project and be easier. But it saved my mental health during the lockdowns as I tried to de stress from my job as a nurse. Who knows what this client went through. Please be a little mindful in this very trying times.

    • @stoakes7878
      @stoakes7878 Год назад

      I’m sorry, Hazel, that you thought my comment was rude. I started quilting in the 1980’s. There are WAY more resources for quilters now than there were then. Even during the pandemic, there were a lot of resources for nerves quilters. If this quilter was older, I give her a pass. My grandma quilted until she was 95.

    Lorena - wrapped is not warped. Wrapped is like what you do to a present. Warped is distorted and what you meant and said. I almost skipped the video because a wrapped-up quilt didn’t sound as interesting. 😂

      As long as you get it as flat as you can you can quilt it more dense. .. I even think it helps keep it flat .

    I’m a new quilter, but I have over 55 years making clothes. I would assume the first time this quilt is washed it’s going to completely warp out of shape all over again. Kind of like when you buy a pair of jeans and after a wash one leg seam is twisted. You can iron that twist out each time you wash the jeans, but it’s always going to twist again when you wash it. Do you know if this will happen on this quilt or any warped quilt? I would be interested in knowing.

    • @beckypetersen2680
      @beckypetersen2680 Год назад

      As a quilter after having washed many of these types of quilts - it will be fine. When washed, the batting will sort of shrink up and crinkle up. It will be fine. Washing it will improve it. (assuming it doesn't bleed)
