2Pac is arguably the most honest influential artist that hip hop has ever produced. He’s an amazing song writer and his music had so much heart and soul. His work is timeless. Was he the illest with the pen? No but he got his point across and has an amazing catalog.

Pac dumbed down his lyrics at times to reach more people, but the message was always deep. People tend to forget he did whole albums in one to two weeks laying down track after track and letting the producers finish it later. Lots of his material was never supposed to come out.
To me as an old school hip hop head I started out with pac in 96 and after exploring pretty much everything hip hop has to offer and I came full circle back to Pac. He just had that level of charisma, inteligence and creativety that is extremely rare not just in hip hop, but in showbusiness in general

2pac was in a league of his own in my opinion. I say this as someone that was actually around then. He was just different. His lyrics hit you different. He did not care about being technical and all lyrical miracle. He liked to keep it simple, simplicity is not a bad thing at all in fact sometimes it is better. Dear mama would not work if it was fast and lyrical miracle. Why I say pac is different is because he was more of a poet, he studied and wrote poetry and was influenced by Shakespeare's work. He was a poet trying to be an MC that is what makes him and his music unique. He was basically just an inspiring poet that discovered he can rap his poetry over a hip hop beat. 2pac in my opinion is like hip hop version of Jim Morrison. Those two are very alike.

Tupac lyrics werent simple, his flow was simple. Your lyrics can’t be simple if your lyrics are better than most rappers that are considered lyrical.
For example, a super lyrical song like Lupe Fiasco Mural has lyrics like:
“A word game back up plan that can dam lakes. Backup the wordplay playing at the man's states, means I can still be the man if the dam breaks. And when demand brakes, I'm reflectious, what they can't face.”
You have no idea what the hell Lupe is talking about. But compare that to a song like Tupac Hold Ya Head Up:
“God bless the child that can hold his own. Indeed, enemies bleed when I hold my chrome. Let these words be the last to my unborn seeds. Hope to raise my young nation in this world of greed. Currency means nothin, if you still ain't free. Money breeds jealousy, take the game from me. I hope for better days, trouble comes naturally.”
Tell me which lyrics are better

Just like tupac, i remember the first time i seen the video of i get around on Yo mtv raps, i never seen a rapper look like that before, the tattoos, shirtless, super charismatic etc. He was loud brash and unique. I remember rapperrs before him like ll cool j, kool moe d, mc hammer etc but tupac was just different from all of them. What im trying to say is tupac laid the foundation for the modern rapper. He introduced tattoos to the game, the shirtless dont give a fuck attitude, high end fashion, etc etc. I remember once tupac died there was sooo many rappers that took his style and kind put their own twist on it, ja rule, dmx, 50 cent, the game, master p, lil wayne etc. Kids today dont realise how much of an influetiial figure tupac was and still is.
