If Nas dies in 96 he dies with illmatic and it was written because of that people will make him number 1 because of the potential to be great for the same reason you just stated what if’s and potential to do more. There is a consistency and authenticity that bleeds thru alongside his passion in the music. And dying young IMO has encapsulated him into an era and time frame that feels timeless.
