Dear All, This is a Greek song the title of which is MISIRLOU meaning "Egyptian girl",, written by a Greek person who loved this girl when in Egypte there was living in Alexandria a big Greek community which left Egypte in the decade of 1950 because of political events at that moment. It is not a surprise that the Greeks can write such beautiful songs because they have invented MUSIC 3000 years ago. Thank you.

Εκπληκτικό!! Αγαπημένο ρεμπέτικο ελληνικότατο τραγούδι που αγαπήθηκε από όλον τον κόσμο. Ο τίτλος ο οποίος σημαίνει "η Αιγυπτια", ίσως να μπερδεύει κάποιους ότι το τραγούδι έχει αιγυπτιακές ρίζες αλλά έχει ελληνικές ρίζες το οποίο χρονολογειται κατά το 1910 στην αγαπημένη μας Σμύρνη από κάποιον άγνωστο συνθέτη.

Creo que gran mérito por promocionar esta hermosa melodía se debe a Dick Dale And His Del-Tones que la publicaron en su disco "Surfers' choice" en 1962. En ese disco le dieron los créditos a Rubanis como corresponde y ellos sólo la hicieron popular. Luego se utilizó en el film "A swinging affair" pero fue con "Pulp fiction" que alcanzó notoriedad en época más actual. Igualmente la interpretación de Dick Dale supera ampliamente lo que se ve en este video.
