I play guitar for fun, am now 62, but there was one time in 1988 when I was at a yoga retreat weekend and they had a talent thingy so I played this song to an audience who loved every nuance of meaning to this great Loudon song I loved their appreciation as I was able to deliver the lyrics i a humorous way one of the performance highlight / thrill of my life
This song fits my life right now so perfectly. It was a good show, absolutely. Not trying to diminish that. But, this guy. What a performer. And he brought both Rufus and Martha into the world. Come on!
I wonder why you love me, baby I hardly love myself at all I think we're both a little crazy We need some therapy that's all I'll see a man, you see a woman You need a mom, I need a dad It's not our fault we have this problem Our parents made us, we were had I know that there's someone out there Who knows what the hell is happening You know that we must do something 'cause God knows and he's not helping Just twice a week for just an hour Just walk on it, just let it out I know we'll both feel so much better Don't let depression with the bout Don't bottle up those awful feelings You're not the one who knows it all There is a nice big box of Kleenex If you break down and start to bawl I know that there's someone out there Who knows what the hell is happening You know that we must do something 'cause God knows and he's not helping I'm full of fear and paranoia You are hysterical and sad Let's do it, babe, you know I love you It costs so much, it can't be bad I don't know why you love me, baby I hardly love myself at all I think we're both a little crazy We need some therapy that's all Just sixty bucks an hour, that's all
Ali Abidalkareem really? He's definitely less dysfunctional than Mickey but he had a few issues with constantly needing to seem like 'the nice guy' all the time and bottling stuff up and sleeping around with people he regretted afterwards. I thought the point of the show was two people with completely opposite personalities and problems coming together and helping each other figure themselves out.
You don't think he's dysfunctional? Did you watch the season one finale? He went absolutely crazy, butting in where it wasn't his business or place and aggressively grabbing at someone else's property, almost breaking it, to prove a point that didn't need to be proved. The dude has major issues.
+breanne pennell he was putting the thing in... then she was like "wait, lemme get my vibrator" .. then he kept humping her and she began moaning and then he slowed down and stopped humping her realising she was climaxing better without him... then she came... that look in his eyes man, made me so fkin sad... its like he was thinking that she never reached orgasm or similar climax when they had sex before... demn. :'-(
Loudon Wainwright is SUCH a good songwriter. If had been a hunk (according to conventional standards), and had less of a sense of humor, he probably would have been massively popular.. Such a waste. But at least we get to enjoy him- and he gets to do his music, even if he hasn't gotten his due. He said at a show "You can talk to me later * *briefly** after the show out in the lobby- We'll be selling CDs. So I went up and bought one, then asked if he was "actually a transgenic combination of Bob Dylan and Jim Carrey." The girl next to us laughed, but Mr. Wainwright paused, did not look amused, then said: "I hope so." He probably is just sick to death of people saying he's a real goofball. I guess I would be too if I were as smart as he is and people only wanted to talk about the jokes. I'm sure glad I compared him to Dylan though- I would feel bad if had said something dickish like "Jim Carrey with a guitar." Plus his guitar work is really good, and I complimented him on that. He looked like he was less annoyed with me after that.
I can't find this song anywhere to download...iTunes etc- Has anyone had any luck? I ended up buying the CD off amazon b/c I loved this song so much! :)
+Biggest Loser Casting Team Worth having the whole album, lots of other great songs on it e.g. Aphrodisiac' and 'Me and all the other Mothers'. Not played enough.
I got hooked on this show and this song made me so sad. His expression on his face on that episode.... Been there...
MrRepzion fu*k that! How disrespectful can that be? I would have walked out. And I am a girl

Excellent show. It hits home so much. Bless my heart. Great song for this show.
I liked this show - both characters are so dysfunctional but kind of relatable...can't wait for season 2! I just rewatched Love again :)
I don't think Guss is dysfunctional. He's behaving normally, with a dysfunctional girl, which makes the relationship hard to come to terms.

I love both of them for what they are... Because honestly I would have done the same if I had been in their place

Caught under the radar Wainwright when he and ah were much younger. The funniest and the best.
