Those were the two albums I was listening to a lot as I finished my last semester of Bible college, and those two songs kind of captured the moment best. Impossible to say what my favorite Plant performance is, but those are the latest contenders.

[I do need to mention, that as someone who sang with some high-level choirs for 30+ years, Ms. Krauss doesn’t seem to have very good breath control and I’m shocked that we can hear her deeply inhaled breaths, which is a result of her tightening her vocal cords.] She does have a lovely, lovely voice!

For Plant to call himself "an entertainer" is hilariously and stupidly rhetorical, and likely a semi-conscious reaction-formation against peacock-ery, which itself isn't as objectionable as puffed up, vindictive critics like at Rolling Stone magazine trying to legislate all greats into little-man-&-meek sensibilities, a hoax far more pretentious than any rock star. Plant's ego was just fine: ego shot him to great heights, and depths which few could ever realize in life or art. Bing Crosby was an "entertainer;" the lyricist and yowler of Ramble On, Friends, Battle For The Evermore, The Rover, Ten Years Gone, Achilles Last Stand, well, he's an ARTIST, not an entertainer. Go listen to fuckin' Pat Boone or Barry Manilow if you want entertainment. Led Zeppelin is art by artists and only bitches blubbering ideology and shame-morals think otherwise. An FM hit song going over 4 minutes? Or a live version of Dazed going 29 minutes? The quibblers and be damned: too many artists are too sensitive to ASININE, sadistic and shallow tirades flung at them by "critics:" Clapton got stung in Cream by RS blob-blabbers, and listening to their bullshit that he "played too much guitar" Clappy left Cream and toned down for Blind Faith, purely wrong; Janis Joplin in Big Brother was hurt by RS claiming BB couldn't play their instruments, which was pure nonsense. Robert and Zeppy also were savaged by RS philistines, who were so puss-brained as to rate art by moral behavior, the feminist neurosis already starting its social disease spreading. Fuck them all, not that they deserve a fuck as how could a critic FEEL anything? ( my apologies to those brilliant and essential critics who do, you know who you are, like David Fricke). Led Zeppelin defines genius in late 20th century music. Robert don't ever worry about being Robert Plant: like Dionysus, you were a "Liberator and He-Who-Unties" for millions of girls and boys whom you taught to feel. The Rain Song shows young men and women what Love is supposed to feel like, for real. Not the boredom of Mr and Mrs Brady.

Anger cursed the whole of Led Zeppelin as Page had already performed ceremonies with Anger where he had sold the souls of ALL the band members in exchange for continued stardom. Page's initial pact with the Devil had a condition that all members use "sidils" that would appear on album covers and labels.

      Why are you here then?
Their 4th and 6th albums are generally considered their best works. III and Houses of the Holy are also better than I.
I guess you like more straightforward rock and blues not more eclectic, deeper and more sophisticated cuts like The Rain Song, Ten Years Gone etc.
      Ah well m

@@lyndoncmp5751 I never likes Robert Plant's screeching voice; to me Jimmy Page was the lynchpin of Led Zeppelin and I saw a recent image of him the other day and he's looking really old. And not being a Led Zep' anorak I never bothered to find out who played drums and bass; and Stairway to Heaven still makes me want to throw up. Pretentious a-holes.
