Note: There's a part of this game where you're deliberately overwhelmed with information (it's not just me going fast). It's not necessary to read everything, but if you'd like to read certain things then I'd recommend pausing the video.
This is genuinely a wild game to me. Really crazy how all companies fight for your time. It's almost no different than today. It made be lean back and think: "What do I want to *actually* do with my time?" If a company isn't there to tell me what to do, what to buy, what to watch, what to eat, then: What do I actually want to do?
and then you've got biological cravings too - do you want to fulfill those, or do you want to pursue intellectual pursuits? Sometimes its easier not to do what you want to do, but instead try to do what the right thing is
Hey I'm KHY, the dev for this game. As a long time fan of this channel, seeing this video in my sub feed brought a big smile to my face. Thank you for playing! Side Note: A new mode unlocks in the main menu after you complete the game so you can spend as much or little time as you want reading all the text (I spent way too much time writing all that stuff.)
Thanks for you work. You've made an excelent critique on modern world and the dystopia to which it leads. Firstly, you lured players in with a critique on the gaming industry. Then you said what you wanted to say. And in the end, you shock-factor'd players to lock your point in. At least, that's how I saw it.
It started as something that I mostly understand: addiction to the information, cheap dopamine. It's very good and important, but I guess it's more to this game. Also, addiction, time, control - does it have something to do with William Burroughs ideas?
Why do I feel this is some jab at the video game insustry, MMMRPGs with paid subscriptions, financing finishing games released when halfbaked, free to play/pay to win games and their constant bombardment with stimuli, adding stuff to please the overachievers, etc. idle games?
I love it when my games try to ham-fist some kind of deep message about the way video games are in their simple button clicker game, or about facing your evil side in their simple platforming flying-fruit collecting game. It’s the best.
Yeah, I didn't really want to crap on this too much but it feels like some 'I'm 14 and this is deep' statement on consumerism. I got bored very quickly having it lecture me.
@@DaussPlays One of the reasons why I stopped supporting these indie devs or devs known for including meta-narrative nonsense. Everyone has something to say about a game or the industry, but instead of actually making something different; something unique, they instead *spend money* to create a game based solely on passive trash-talk and antagonizing the people who would purchase their product.
@@RickyfromAZ I think that’s a bit generalizing. There’s meta commentary done well and there’s meta commentary done poorly. Most of the poorly done ones are someone who’s still figuring out how to articulate what they’re trying to say, and will most likely do so over time.
I honestly like the bluntness of the "subtext" here, I found it rather refreshing that the game had this angry and angsty tone about it. People complain about it in the comments but I find the whole thing quite cathartic for some reason.
For a game that seems very hostile towards the alienation created by a hyperfunctional world of production, it sure seems to love that exact same signature metamodern irony that makes you totally unable to distinguish any message but one of "there is technology, and it is bad", which I mean we're on youtube.
Plot twist: with every coin toss you made Harvey Dent decided whether to kill one of his victims or not. The money you made came from his bank robberies. Congrats.
Who is this Dent of Harvey? I could look it up but I don't want to and I want someone else to do the work for me. I just don't wanna open up another tab, it throws off my vibe and then it's just too much going on so I won't do it.
I thought for sure that the coin flipping game was going to end with a jab at micro transactions, but then the Life, Pong and other parts made it sound like one of those annoying “git gud” Souls-type game players going off on a wild tangent.
I am gonna assume that because the dev is either from China or Taiwan, this game is basically modern day young people simulator, forced to work, chase money, no individualism, always seeing BS and bad stuff on the news
Personal preference but games about games are as boring and self-indulgent as stories about writers. The Stanley Parable did it. We all clapped. What more is there to say?

Hey everybody God loves you all and he wants you to go to heaven and he gave Jesus to die on the cross so you can go to heaven which is eternal life. If you want to go to heaven and be with Jesus here is the following: Give your life to Jesus Christ, repent for your sins, live for Jesus Christ and believe he is the only way to heaven. you can't go to heaven trough another way but only trough Jesus Christ and you have only one chance in life because if you die you spend eternity in one of two places heaven or hell. it's not to condemn you but to let you know. So choose while you can if you want but in either way God still loves you and he lets you choose if you want to go to heaven or not. so anyway still God bless you. Amen.

love the game bro well done
🔥🔥 game is a mood
You made an amazing piece of art.
the amoount of inducing anxiety i felt during MalumOS part can't be described, thank you for this amazing ride :D
You're welcome! Absolutely loved the game. Very cleverly made and took some very unexpected turns! Awesome work!

Never thought I'd get motivational messages in a spoopy game like this one.
Nice touch, tbh.
Bobbert once again finding himself in a Shadowrealm game

Burroughs hardly coined exploring those things lol
This is the type of game that Harvey Dent would like to play during his free time.
This game is the literal embodiment of "go touch some grass" and I love it
Not sure you know what "literal" means but ok.

Such Daniel Mullins vibes on this one. It's a amazing game

When I saw the game of life segment, I immediately went off and wrote my own implementation just out of spite. :)

Congrats.
Huge "WTF did I just watch" energy here.
'create something' is legit so inspirational
"gay"
"your mom doesn't think so"
I remember this game being made on many C++ or C development books as training source code.
A game designed by Harvey Dent.

Yeah this post sounds biased against attention-neurotranamitters-deficient-or-working-memory-challenged people :(
"ok boomer"-game
they succeeded in making SubFrag annoying as possible. every time I saw it I thought "Not you again."
A game that delivers a message everyone already agrees with in an extremely ham-fisted and obnoxious way. What was the point, again?

*flips coin* Kain, is that you?
Something very Black Mirror to it all which is not a bad thing.
Is the music edited in or present in-game?
There's a game like the war game is called survive, and its about just survival , text based.
Hey, wait a minute! Is that the Earthbound font?!

The messaging in this is about as subtle as a brick to a window pane. You don't need to say the quiet part out loud all the time.
Determining guilt via a priori knowledge? That seems like a Bad Idea.
Minority Report vibes
Ugh I can tell the developer thinks very highly of themselves 😒

That none of It mattered.

Ok that is definitely about AI art
Oh great, another crappy nihilism game which feels like it was written by an edgy middle schooler.
Hi! That's not really the message behind the game, but I can understand why people might think that.
