I love The Mix too. I read in Wolfgang Flür's book "I Was a Robot" that in a chance meeting with Ralf in a cafe in 1999. Ralf said he thought The Mix was a bad idea, that it took away from the original compositions.

It wasn't a computer-generated voice who sang in Dentaku. It was actually Ralf who sang it with a vocoder just like in '81 version. I know that the vocoded voice in this song sounds corny to some people, but to me, it sounds very funny.

I actually really like Minimum-Maximum. It's like a build up for 3-D and I thought it was a HUUUGE step forward

"Tec" in "Musique Non Stop" by the way is just a cut of "Tec-hno".

Computer Love is my fave too on The Mix. I pulled The Mix out after a few years and in the first minute of the song I knew it was my fave.

Speaking of 3D The Catalogue, what do you think of some of the remade versions on that album which they do in their live shows as well?

The text in Dentaku is by the way Japanese, or trying-to-be-japanese ;)...
I am quite with with nearly all points, but I love the sound of Home Computer a lot, it is very electronic, fantastic beat! it is a bit long, but other than that it just sounds fantastic. Not that "not-out-of-this-time"-innovating as the original as in 1981, but it was really really tight and cool.

I tend to agree about the Mix, it's not so much that it makes them somehow "stuck in the 90s", as it inspired a lot of people in the 90s and Aughts, which then retroactively colours the way a lot of people feel about it.

a very right choice of kraftwerk to digitalized al their music. kraftwerk sounds a lot better for me with digital synths instead of old analog

The Mix was my first encounter with Kraftwerk, a few years after it was released. Basically it was the reason i fell in love with Kraftwerk and with electronic music in general. That said, as seen as from all those years The Mix is the only Kraftwerk album that aged poorly. It feels like a cheap remake, done in the in my opinion in the weakest years of electronic music in general. The years when the digital technology was still inferior to the classic analogue synthesizers. In fact nowadays i prefer to listen the live performances from those period. Mostly "The return of the man-machine - Live in Bologna 1990", which still includes Karl Bartos in the band. As far as my opinion about the particular tracks from The Mix, my opinion is surprisingly the opposite of @TheWonkyAngle taste. For example Autobahn, which is my favorite Kraftwerk song, sounds insultingly bad in The Mix version. Radio-Activity is turned from a dark industrial electronic masterpiece to basically a dance tune. And for the first 2 tracks, am i the only one who noticed that they have the same drum rhythm. And not particularly impressive as well. The only true upgrade felt in that album are Abzug-MetalOnMetal, HomeComputer and the amazing new baseline in MusicNonStop.
I imagine that it would have been a better strategy if Kraftwerk released an official Live Album in the early 90s and a remixed compilation around the mid 2000s. It would have sounded a lot like 3D The Catalogue, an album that bring back my love for Kraftwerk in 2017
